Default FS: '81 928 Parts Car - $600 obo - SF Bay Area

For sale is a 1981 Porsche 928 fixer-upper/parts car. It doesn't run. I believe the previous owner said that it had a blown head gasket. I never bothered to check that out.

Good:

Lots of good sheet metal - Hood, quarter panels, fenders, etc.
Rear glass is good - Side & hatchback.
Tires are in pretty good shape.
Engine seems to have pretty much all its parts. Turns over, so not frozen.

Bad:

Salvage title (California)
Some bad sheet metal (see pics).
Interior is trashed.
Obviously it needs to be towed away - Not drivable.
Battery doesn't hold a charge.
Windshield is cracked.
Missing driver's & passenger's side glass.

As you all know, parts for 928's cost an arm & a leg. Take just a few parts & this thing pays for itself.

$600 obo

what size are those rims?(and tire sizes)

I think we need to build this to win the GrassRoots Motorsports $2000 challenge.

put a cage in it, use scots 4.7 euro motor. slam it by cutting the springs, and gut the heck out of it!

Damn, that's impressive... how much would it be worth if it held a charge?

If I had $600 I'd be all over this...let me call my brother lol.

Is the drivers side quarterpanel crushed in or just with bad paint?

Probably wasn't initially the fault of the battery, but if it's been dead for any length of time, it's dead for good -- regardless of how it got that way. This goes for any lead-acid battery, regardless of the amount of sales hype about spiral cells, so-called "advanced technology", etc. -- Unless and until they manage to change the laws of physics within battery casings, if it has been completely flat for more than 24 hours my S.O.P. will be to consider it FUBAR unless a full charge & load test proves otherwise.

They look like the set of 16" Gotti's I've got sittting in my garage. Ultra ugly & oh so seventies, but extremly light compaired to the wheels I replaced them with. Only different is that my rears have a deeper off set (larger lip) and while they have the same width (8" I think?) they stick out a little more in the rear.

Here's an old pic.....

Probably make a good set of track wheels.

Umm... Like SharkSkin said, it's D-E-A-D. Unless they offer some sort of pro-rated lifetime replacement warranty, it isn't worth a plug nickel.

Fronts are 225/16's Bridgestone Potenzas, rears are 245/16's (forgot manufacturer). But lets face it, they just don't make uber-cool wheels like these babies (and moonies) anymore. They're priceless.

Driver's side quarterpanel is squished in.

Sorry, whole car goes. If you want to buy it and part it out, or take the transmission and resell the car, be my guest.

So, I thought about it, but all I want is the back bumper cover (if it's not cracked).

If anyone wants to part this out, please let me know --I'd be glad to help you tear it down in exchange for that one part --hell, might even learn something in the process.
