I found this eBay auction for another 1981: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Porsc...72730873QQrdZ1

That car needs new paint, air conditioner doesn't work, and it has 20,000 more miles than mine. Currently the high bid is more than what I paid for mine. A little off topic? Sure, but I'm just happy I got a good deal.

This chart also confirmed my feelings that I got a good deal.

Top bidder on the ebay auction has between 1 and 9 feedback and is currently bidding on 23 cars.

If you are happy then you got a good deal, all this focus on money and Willhoit and resale value is tawdry.

Excellence article spawned a thread of equal quality to this one.

I think I am done with this thread, I have to tell some children about Santa, the Easter bunny, and income tax.

I bid on my 928 when I had a 3 feedback rating, ended up closing the deal outside ebay. I fail to see what the bidders feedback score has to do with it.

I'm beginning to think danglerb is a chick. The best way I can describe his method of grasp and reason, is his requirement for toasted ice.

You know, there appears to be a certain level/degree of agnst in this thread that I think being cooped up in the middle of lousy winter weather watching the millionaires play on that televised auction block has alot to do with it. I'd point out that even though there are 70k+ versions of our cars out there it doesn't stop any of us from enjoying our car regardless of how rich we might be because there is such a range of years/prices to choose from. I've been fortunate enough to have driven all of the different models now, and each one has been simply great, Its made me more of an enthusiast than I ever was.

It just doesn't matter how much we spent to purchase the car, whether its a 2k OB fixer/upper or a low k GTS collector what matters is how great these cars are, how positive they make us feel and the sense of community I feel every time a log onto Rennlist, the people here are just awesome.

Summers comming. A few months away at best. The season for driving will be at hand. Just remember that any version of the 928 will outhandle that 200k hemi cuda some millionaire bought so he can sit and polish it in his driveway waiting for next year to go to the auction and sell it again, never driving it for fear a rock might scratch the paint....

polishing...polishing... all I do is polishing look at the purdy paint...

whatever

Mark
I think it would be a very positive thing for the 928 to see one on B-J bringing in a nice price. I'm not a big fan of garage queens. But I'm not a millionaire either. If I was, I suspect that I might have a few choice automobiles in garage the size of a warehouse. I really don't see what gets people dander up about Willhoits and Lowmiler. If anything, you've got to compliment them on their ability to locate very nice 928s.

Sorry to open up this thread on an off topic but I said I would post pictures of the new and old GTS intake tubes.

As you can see the old original tubes are quite dried out but still functional as the new tubes have a glossy finish. The info stenciled on the original tubes were applied by sticker on the new ones which I removed.

I got these from Dave Lomas of 928 Motorsports.

Sorry guys, I do not mean to belabor the point here (I'm as tired of this thread as you are...) but I thought this worthy of raising it to the top one more time.
