I'm with you, Marton.

I am reminded of what a very wise man once said. "86.5 Rocks!" I think his name was Shane.

I have a friend who lives half a mile away who is a true Porschephile and can afford to have 11 Porsches (last count + half a dozen other non-Porsche enthusiast cars). I doubt that he is able to run the mileage up on any of his cars if he wants to enjoy them all.

Which side am I on? Being able to afford to DRIVE a stable of cars in mint condition. Alas, it won't be happening in my life time. Hopefully some of you in this forum will.

I chased down a guy driving a 928 once as it looked like and was an 85. He is not on any lists and owns multiple collector cars. However he drives the 928 and not the others.

I was indeed attempting (probably poorly) to spoof what seems to inevitably result of these threads. But I do have to admit that I was going for a bit of friendly tweaking of the GTS owner in it as well. After all, you guys already have a GTS, but do you have to rub it in by *rooting* for even higher prices?

A great testament to the enjoyment our cars bring. My friend who owns the 11 Porsches however, drives a Subaru WRX as his daily driver. Says that he does not want to subject his cars to the drugery of commuter traffic. I do see him whizzing by on the weekends on any one of his several Porsches. And to prove that his not **** about it, he does allow his daughters and son-in-law to drive certain ones.

I'm not Walter Cronkite, when I report on something expect some of my opinion in it.

When I see "an exhibition of wealth", gold chains, 9 Porsches that aren't driven, I think of the Aussie expression "nobody ever got rich without screwing their mates." I'm a libertarian capitalist living in OC and it cultivates a certain disdain for the wealthy who have done little to deserve their good fortune. In a world with people dying for lack of food, its just a bit distasteful to me. This is why I would limit myself personally to just 5 Porsches.

Where the hell do you find a 10K mile GTS? You'd have to cross reference the Obituaries with DMV records, and then go "scavenging" for poor grieving widows who have no idea what the fancy car that he never drove really is.

Oh yeah, and the poor dead sucker better not have had any sons...- Ruf

I know of a couple of people that have paid brokers to find the exact car that met their specs. I'm not one of them - had to do it the "old fashioned way".

I thought the whole point of being a libertarian capitalist was the aquisition of wealth?

The seats look like exposure and lack of treatment because they are both the same. If mileage were falsely low, it would be unusual for passenger seat to look as bad as the driver seat.

I read the entire thread and was about to say the same thing.

I also think the lighting might be throwing off the color on the intake. My 93 has the same color on the intake as the fan on my turbo which a local expert has told me is Zermatt Silver. This looks the same to me. It is also the same color as the covers on my 944S2.

Regarding Michael. I purchased my GTS from Michael and he is a great guy and a pleasure to deal with. I would do it all over again. I didn't need to spend that kind of money on my GTS. It is not a low mileage example but people are hard pressed to determine how many miles are on my car and when they guess they usually say 20k when it has 60K. BTW my seats are in better shape but they are supple leather which holds up better. Like any low production Porsche if you want a nice clean example of a particular model you have to pay up for it. I wouldn't consider myself rich but I like my toys and I can't understand buying something so special purely by price.

The next 'new' supply of later year low mileage 928's is going to be from Japan. I watch the auto auctions over there and there are sometimes 3 or 4 928's going through. On Monday this week, a 1993 GTS went through along with a 90 S4 and a 89 S4. Mileage is usually 40-75kms and quality a 3.5 or 4 out of 5. I'm waiting for the 15 year old cars to show. Over the next 3 years, all years up to and including 1995 will be available to import to Canada. The sale prices are typically under $15,000 Cdn. My 87 came from Japan and 3 years ago it was imported into Canada for $7000 cdn.

Ya know, if it weren't for you guys quoting Danglers posts, I'd not have seen them. Thanks for the entertainment guys.

As for the car, I hope he gets every penny plus some.
