Does anyone know if JL ever spun a rod bearing with the accusump installed? In the four years I've been running with him the engine has survived - not sure if he ever changed out the bearings.

I've heard of only one failure with an acusump and that's Don hanson who went off-track and severed or damaged an oil deed line. Doesn't count.

About 100 track days on my stock motor'd S4 w/ Devek 3qt racing Accusump kit. Half of those days on street tires, the other half on R-compounds. Used Mobil 1 for most of that but have now switched to Redline.

About 60 of those days are at Thunderhill which has a 10+ sec left-hand corner at >1.0g. Usually run 2-1/2 to 3 hours a day (150-200 miles).

Rod bearings were replaced after about 85 days. They looked good, no unusual wear.

No GTS baffle, no drilled crank, no oil breather mods. Accusump and go.

Dennis,
Thanks for the info. Care to share how that system plugs into the motor? I cannot find any info on the Devek site. Just curious.

Adaptor plate at the stock oil filter location w/ oil lines to remote oil filter (my car has no AC compressor) and Accusump in the spare tire well.

Glen - sorry to see the engine like that, but thanks for sharing it and letting us all learn from it. Good luck with the rebuild!

did mark andersons 2/6 failure happen with the pan that he keeps posting pictures of, the one he says 'didnt work' i wonder?? if so then probably drysumping is a reliable solution. aside from that it does seem as if the holbert car is an anomaly and accusumps are reasonably effective...

my old 4.7 US/euro conversion had 170,000miles on it and it had over 30,000miles of racing activities on it. Then, the 5 liter part euro, it had a couple of race seasons on it, and now the Holbert machine.
all redline or Amzoil, all shifted around 6000rpm, while the holbert car is more like 6400rpm, all with no accusumps, oil coolers, except for the stock in-radiator style, and no other mods.

The 84 was pulled apart when it was time to fix that leaky headgasket, only to find the bearings were in fine shape (170,000miles !!)

im wondering if the real answer is the amzoli and the later cranks with larger oiling holes. Id like to think im just very lucky, but i dont believe in luck.
(knock, knock, ha ha)

Don Hanson, David Lloyd, GlenL, Ott, and countless others privately have blown these big hunnks of aluminum to smitherins on numerous occasions.

I don't have a solution, but I am very dissapointed. Very.

I had many 2/6 failures with my present dry sump set up. They all stopped when I redrilled my crank or later went to the stroker with Chevy type drilling. The pan I keep showing failed because it did not remove the oil from the pan and the pump ran dry. I'm not sure all the reasons why but the first pan I made and and now using again works just fine. Here is a few pics (pardon the dirt)

We are doing this in a straight line during open road races for miles with the stock lubrication system. George Suennen is doing this more then me, pulling speeds of 185+ with a 2.54 rear end AT. Hence my question about turns being a factor.

It's amazing how long things last when being used at less than max.

Actually I think Kibort has been lucky but most of the tracks he runs at do not have long sustained hi G turns and I'm sure that's what pushes things over the edge.

Kibort you must have been working hard to go back 6 years to the first time I was at that track. I believe the last time I was there I did a 1:39. I've also had 2 top tens in World Challege at Sears since then.
Anyway just giving you a ribbin. I know you drive it hard but it is amazing how little trouble you have had.
