Yeah, they couldnt afford the federalisation process (and maybe couldnt make it reliable enough for the USA market).
Fast though, 0-60 3.8s. 0-100-0 8.8s
There is another small Brit company called Noble who make a car for similar bucks that would also give the Z06 a hard time. Now that might make it across the pond.

There's nothing wrong with comfort, convenience and performance, and they need not be mutually exclusive.

I'm not saying the 996 has a super high quality interior, however it is overall better than a ZO6 interior. Especially the dash material.

even if they put in a cupholder it would have been useless anyway
2001 Audi S4 useless
1999 M3 useless
85 Z none
91 Z none
85 928 none
I think everyone is following the same trend
(at least from this short list of cars ive owned)

As you know - I love all things fast, I hang out with more Corvette guys on a regular basis than Porsche owners (928's included).
With that out of the way, I could care less about carpet, cheap plastic, fake leather etc.......but why not use a decent epoxy to hold the roof on?

EDIT - just noticed he took his pictures down. What happened is the roof panel (fixed roof, no targa) blew off - exposing the head liner to the elements.

Wow, this thread is all over the place.
Charles, glad things are working properly, I was a little worried in the beginning when you said you didn't feel any power increase. You will win some and lose some, it's whipping it out that gets the blood pumping. I have beat a stock Z06 a few times, and have a friend with a 10 sec C05, you never know.
Have fun, be safe. Woody

If you like them, great, you should buy one. Apparently that demand wasn't big enough to keep Mark's friends from getting their's, and the same goes for ones that I know of. Maybe check the used car market for one, since that's where those of Mark's friends and at least one Corvette owner I know had their's go.

I started a thread some time back about how I didn''t care much for Corvette owners..probably still holds true. I gave credit where credit was due though, but never liked those cars.
I have to say now though, if you stand back and study the new Z06, there is no question that after 50+ years, Chevy FINALLY got it right. It is one nicely shaped car. A true Amerciacn muscle car.
Incidentally, you guys talking about leather...give me a break, ever sat in an F40 or late 60's American muscle? The cars are meant to go fast and thats it!...and they're great! The Ferrari just happens to cost a bit more because you can turn 'em!
Fi I could get my GTS to at least move like a C5 generation Z06, that would be awesome.

As a supercharged Corvette owner and a 928 owner (soon to be supercharged) I really do not see where the rivalry comes from.
I know of some old C4's and even more C5's that would have 99% of the blown 928's out there wondering where the hell that Corvette went.
I mean come on guys, chances are if they are driving a Z06, more than not, they are a car guy. Is this not what it really is about? Just car guys and girls?
I guess I would not be welcome at a Shark gathering in my Vette?
Oh well.
