Evidently they're not car-guys since who really gives a rats *** about those things anyway?? And for that matter, the interior is no worse than a Boxster's or a 996's. I'm sure you heard the 996 owners whine about the very things you stated regarding the 'GM' product.

What other street car beats the C6 Z06's 7:42.9 Nurburgring time?

The car does 7:42.9 at the 'Ring, and your buddies are 'worried' about carpeting! I'm pleased to know they sold their cars so hopefully a true enthusiast can buy, drive, and appreciate the C6 Z06 for what it really is, one BAD-*** American made car for which the rest of the world has no answer.

There isn't a street car on the planet today that can even come close to matching it's performance without spending over $400k, the Porsche Carrera GT:

I was in a ZO6 last week and it had the same fricking plastic like every other plasticy GM interior. BS a ZO6 are made to the quality of material in a 996....

Are they world class performance wise $ for dollar? Damn right!

Nope, what counts is how well they accelerate from a rolling start.

Apparently, the customers who bought them. Maybe GM will figure that out one day. Based on the amount of money and market share they're loosing, they still haven't.

Some more Z06 times, including some details of mods:

I agree with Abby. I have 996............full leather, full wood, with quality carpets. I had a vette, it was fast.......that was all.

There is nothing wrong with liking vettes, don't get so defensive about it...............it is all about personal preference, not who's ego is more "thenthitive"....

At my age, I haven't been new to anything for decades, and while I didn't "invent" the internet........well, never mind.......

If you'd do a search on the 996 forum, you can find some facts for yourself on this matter. You will also find that some of the leather owners are complaining too about their leather being 'cheap' and shrinking after a couple of years.

I like the C6 Z06, and GM still cannot keep up with customer demand for it; I'm not concerned about their other cars. Perhaps if GM followed a similar roadmap for their cars other than the Corvette, maybe they wouldn't be in their current predictament.

That's funny!

Actually, it has nothing to do with being sensitive, rather it's more of being incredulous that someone would complain or even bring up carpeting or (..lack-of) cup-holders as criteria in judging a (..super) high-performance car; I'm thinking they should have bought a frickin' Buick or something similar in the first place.

Chevrolet is not touting the Z06 as comparable to cars like a 996 for interior quality/comfort, they're touting the best raw performance and that's what a Z06 buyer is looking for.

Friend has a '06 Murcielago roadster WITH mods - insane, seriously. Still, he is going to pick up an '07 Z06 in the fall, solely for fun factor and driving feel. The Murci is just that, merciless in all aspects and oozing with sex appeal, material quality, attention to detail, blah-blah-blah, but for him, $70k is rediculously cheap for the performance of the Z06...not the interior or pampered effects, but to be a bad *** ride that 'can' stop at the grocery store.

I reckon my TVR Tuscan S would give it a run for its money.

Perhaps, but becasue it doesn't have airbags and other mandatory safety items, it's not available in North America.
