Check the Baden Matte Black. The offset may be the issue in front.

That pic makes a strong case for how replacing the 'phone dials' or 'manholes' with aftermarket wheels on an early 928 can make the car look much more contemporary....if that's the desired look.

Thoomas, you might consider using a removable coating such as Plasti Dip for consumer applications, or Xytek for professionally applied.
If you don't like the look, just peel it off.
