I'm considering the TireRack solution of the "Sport Edition Cup 4" :
Wheels:
17x7.5 in front , 17x9 in rear.
Tires:
225/45 in front, 255/40 in rear.

Anyone have this combo? Advice with this set-up?
From my experience the sport edition line of wheels is heavy and soft, not an ideal combo for the 928 (or any car) IMHO. While they are cheap to buy new, for the same money you can find an OEM set of porsche wheels that will bolt up. Finding the perfect offsets might take a bit of time and hunting, but it can be done. I just picked up a set of cup I wheels (7.5s and 9s) for less than tire rack is asking for the sport edition cup 4s.

Cool, I recognise that (steep) driveway, he lives just down Mona Vale Road from me and I pop in there from time to time. I was wondering who bought that silver one.

Funnily enough, a local who was considering that car just bought the '87 from Melbourne which has the 89 dash installed - and it turned out to be absolutely mint with *all* the work already done to it and the complete history of receipts etc.

I see an X-pipe, chips and injectors in your future

Thanks Hilton! Matt has been really good over this deal (and always fantastic to deal with), oddly, its the second time I've owned the engine in this car...

I have mixed emotions though as I have to sell my 81S (with an 85 engine in it)... I took it for an early morning blast yesterday morning down to South Arm and its just such a wonderful car. I was starting to think "what have I done..." I am looking forward to driving a manual again though.. and this 87S4 looks beautiful with the Cayman wheels and I bought some Aero mirrors off Matt for it as well.
And yes, an X pipe and chips are in my plans... although finishing the 66 911 racecar in my garage is also on that list... and getting the house painted... and a deck built.. and a holiday... etc etc

OK. I'll Play!

My avatar shows the 16" BBS on my 928. Lots of curb rash and undersized tires from P/O. The BBS's are a PITA to clean, but look nice with some attention.

Changing them out to 18 panamera 5 spokes as soon as the Potenza tires get worn down some more.

Not sure who owns this car, but the kit is a Koenig Specials... IMHO a very modern, good looking one. Kit for sale on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/180419364600?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT#ht_1622wt_1009
Here is my alternate set: 996TT BBS-made hollow spoke; powder coated in PPG Thundercloud.

Maybe because I grew up in the 70's with US mags and Craigers being popular wheels, but black wheels make me think someone lost their hub caps.

It's mine, Koenig converted the car back in 1991/92. The wheels are from Kerscher Tuning, KRS 17. Fronts: 17x10. Rears: 17x13.
