tires are an issue. My rears are shot. Could affect me, wet or dry. I have another set of wheels with new tires but I need 1" spacers for the rear. Need to find some locally in the next day or so.

Hey, I heard some mention of the route...goes pretty far South and looks like a pretty long ride. I know Nicole doesn't want to alert the authorities, but can we review this offline? I have something I need to be back for and I want to make sure I can make it without accumulating too many tickets on the way home.

Bill,
You will be getting back late. All the weekend traffic piles up on US1-Hwy156 intersection that brings you over to 101. In addition, the 101 to the Bay Area will be a bit full. If you guys want to make a shorter run, we can go along with the PCA from Monterey to the Basque Restaurant on Hwy 152. They are gathering in Prunedale about 1pm on Sunday...
I know the gas station 100miles away.. That's where I got stopped for 3 digits (without V1) Rain or shine, I'm in, but slower in rain. The car is way too stiff to push it.. There is another option if you guys do not want to go over to the coast.. We can discuss offline etc.. Send a PM if you wish to..
This not going for a fun drive because of rain is so silly. So many forget or do not know that it rains so much in Germany, and our cars were meant to be driven, not parked in some garage to be a prissy.. And then the oh, its so far... What a bunch of #@$%...!

Would someone please tell me what is happening?
When we took this route Superbowl Sunday, I came back from Nepenthe and up through Carmel, where I stopped for awhile. Then I went back up 152 to 101 and arrived without incident at about 3:15 PM in Sunnyvale. (well, actually, there was one incident....but Mr. Valentine was there to squeeze me out of it nicely, while the poor BMW nearby got nailed big time outside of Gilroy )
Of course lots of traffic was home preparing for the game, but it wasn't until 5 pm or so meaning there was no reason to expect less than normal traffic.
I need to plan my day though, so please decide. The route originally planned put 350 miles on my beast that day FWIW.
As for the weather, that is one reason I drive P cars. As Richard said, Germany is not exactly tropical.

Ron,
The traffic can start earlier on the small portion that goes from Hwy1/156 near Castroville, over to Hwy 101 through Prunedale to where 156 splits off to San juan Batista/Hollister..
It will not affect me, as I'll be home near the junction, and can go several back roads to avoid the traffic. In addition, It's Sunday so the tourist traffic can be out there. In addition, there could be slides on Hwy 1 South of Big Sur due to all the rain we have been having.
I personally hope everyone make it down... I am looking forward to it..
Steve,
It's your car, and of course you can do with it what you wish.. IMHO the car was meant to be driven, and I get much more pleasure driving it than having it parked in a garage. That goes for any car I have ever owned, from F-Car to P-Car or anything in between.

So what is the consensous here - drive no matter what the weather, or reschedule in hopes for better weather? Everyone respond with your choice of "Drive rain or shine", or "reschedule".
Thanks!
Thanks!

That makes a whopping two of us. I say DRIVE, bearing in mind that drive could take longer and mudslides are always a possibility on Hwy 1 south of Carmel. That means accepting the possibility of turning back and heading South if the road is closed. Aw, let's do it anyway. Beats sitting at home rotting.
