So, Rolex,

as I said, with proper mods, and proper EMS tuning and planning, he id getting 533 out of 2.5L. That means a 928 *2V* should do 1066whp at 25psi.

Thats alot of heat.

I don't know the first thing about a 928, but I can speak somewhat about 951s. And that RWHP & TQ he made is pretty damn amazing, with nice curves, EGTs are low, the A/F is "dead" on the money. And the cost of his car was nothing really, and as I said just mild bolt-ons.

I want to see one of these "streeties" run a lap at a track near you , and survive 10 laps at a track near you in race conditions. Like i said, if the Evo can do it, the porsche made , and improved on , engine should do it too. that engine looks like its got a lot of time and money into it.
I guess that is pretty impressive, but a common stroker 928 which is a $7500 kit too, can make 420 rwhp . sure there are other parts needed to go fast, but im curious about the chassis structure and the tranmission. wonder if they need much help other than the true bolt ons that it takes to make a 928 pretty competitive with 300 to 400 rear wheel hp. (ie wheels and tires, bolt on suspension, sway bar and a set of headers and exhaust, or the 6.5L stroker kit (un-bolt-on) and then gut the car and put in the usual safety stuff)

hey, if they are getting 460hp out of a 2.5 liter reliably, i think ill make up some special engine mounts and bolt on one of those engines in the front of my shark!! heck, think of the weight up front to be saved!!!! its got to be 200lbs lighter!!! (hmm, 2400lbs and 461rwhp , reliable!!)

Wow, then i can run in GT4 PCA and mop up!!

How about a BMW740IL?
I just bought one of these for my wife (lil'mama on the list). It is a 1997 model. this thing rips when you use manual mode and run the gears! We G-TECHed this thing in manual at our usual spot. I shifted from 1 to 2nd gear at redline and anxiously examined the result on screen. 6.4 secs! I had to do it a few more times as I was so surprised. Same result. I tell you it even feels a little like our s4. An amazing car indeed. We paid 8500.00 at an auction with 122000 on the clock. 282hp and 290 tq. and 4600lbs! Sorry for the long post.

Great Cars. You could stick a DINAN SC on there and get 400. Huge wheels, lowering kit. I was *this* close to buying one. They are BIG though.

I've always liked the look of that vintage 740, and they've not held their value well. Drive great, plenty of power, comfortable, all the bells and whistles. A BMW owning friend tells me that his BMW mechanic told him he can install a clutch in a 740 for $3500. That's kinda intriguing. Don't know squat about them to know if it's this easy.

Kevin,
How does that heavy car move that quick? I do not know my 85 euro's real world 0-60 as i have beaten late model mustang gt's but it should be mid 5's relative to that. I have more hp and tq and 1400 #'s less.

So seriously, how do they do that?

TV,
I am guessing here, but I think it is in the gearing. IN manual mode it just jumps off the line and pulls incredibly hard after 3500 rpms. And it keeps pulling hard to redline and the shifts are instant. I told Laura (lil'mama) I would love to find a non-running old bugger and slam this 4.4 driveline into it! I bet it would be a BEAST! Another thing is the heads on this engine are like cinder blocks in size so maybe something there? May be a combination of many things. BTW. Your euro if running well and driven properly , would probably do a mid 5 0-60 give or take. Enough to embarass our 740il for sure!

Thanks for the answer and i have always liked certain years of the 7 series including the one Bond drove in one of his movies. Do you have one of the remote control video drive units like him? I was actually reading about them a few weeks ago and i found out about the different engines. Do you have the 8 or the 12?

My euro is in phenomenal condition and hauls in a major way!

the new chrysler-benz 300M. I have fallen in love with that car. My mom bought one with AWD and the bigger V6... and its actually fun to drive. Front and rear seats have ROOM for 6ft adults. 5 dead hooker trunk capacity. I cant even begin to imagine what the SRT8 is like.

Not too get OT on this thread but it seems if a 2.5L with 20+PSI can run close to or Over 500HP at the wheels - one would think that the Shark V8 would have no limits (within reason) to what it could produce. (As mentioned earlier)

I like to see a 16 and or a 32 valve (4.5-5.4L) run 23 PSI? Wouldnt that be friggin wicked?.

http://www.turbofast.com.au/TFmatch.html

According to this chart and if Im inserting the correct figures

4400 CC Motor
6200 Max RPM
24 PSI Boost

MAKE TYPE HP Rating TURBINE HSG A/R
Garrett GT42 800 1.4000000000000001

BHP = 773.9
A/F Per M = 71.2

Gasoline Engine w/Intercooler (of course C/R isnt considered in this figure)

Food for thought .....and .....Now back to your regular scheduled programming .......

What about the Cadillac STSV with that 400+hp supercharged V8? (frankly I think anything with more than 2 doors is not a real 928 competitor. The 850CSI, maybe a Mercedes 500SL from the early 90's or whatever its current counterpart is are more directly in the 928 world, big engine, not so big car, minimal to non existent back seat which basically just saves us from the 2 seater insurance freak out) Or could we stretch this to the 1968-70 AMC Javelin and AMX? They were big in Trans Am racing.

I actually looked at that car fairly seriously a while back. However, I was rather disappointed in the poor quality of fit and finish.
