for under$20k vs those cars that are over $100k!!
as far as cars that compare, just look at base hp factory ratings and compare the price tags. new e46 m3s and old Z06s come to mind (comparing a GTS street car with a set of headers to the the competition) brakes, handling, upside potential and cost is better with the porsche 928, any doubt?
However, a 944 turbo guy did forward me this. Ive always wondered why we havent seen more pumped up 944 turbo racers out there!

Hey, the reason I love the 928 is that it's actually fairly practical. You can carry a lot of stuff in it. Of all the cars that have come up in this list, how many can swallow as much gear as the 928 (look at Kiborts list!)? Even a 740 or S-class could only hold 2 people if you put as much crap in it as the 928 can handle. I guess it depends on which portion of "more than a 928" you're looking at. It would have to be wagon or another hatchback, because the only thing the 928 can't do is haul 4 people and all this stuff.
That actually narrows the list down: 540 wagon, Saab Viggen, 9-3 or 9-5 sport combi, Volvo S70R, MB E55 wagon, Dodge Magnum SRT8. All these other exotics - impractible rubbish.

A few years ago, I was at a track day up at Thunderhill. To set the scene, it's early in the morning before the first run session and everyone is in the paddock preparing their cars. People are torque-ing lugnuts, taping numbers and generally making final adjustments. Kind of a focused and quiet atmosphere.
At the last possible second before the first rungroup, Kibort in his '79 OB track car roars into the paddock and comes to a screeching halt. You can hear bass thumping from the subwoofer as War's "Lowrider" is playing at full blast while he unloads the car.
"Low. Ri. Der. Ride a little lower."
Everyone stops working for a second and kind of stares with a "WTF?" look on their face. Priceless.

thats what i was asking when the evo guy brought out the newer and more improved EvO 3 liter 440hp version to the last half of the season!
if the evo motor can take 26psi, i guess the porsche 944 can take it too!
seems unnatural though! 148hp / liter. hmmm what would a 5 liter make???? 736hp!!!!!!

Now, when I get my car done, I think I'm going to even give him a serious run for the money - especially since I have a 3.0L vs. his 2.5L, and I had every Goddamn mod in the book for a 944T. And oh, this guy alao happens to be my tuner, who's one of the best in the northeast with the EMS stuff I have installed too. So, could his car and my car be considered a competitor against a 928, I think so. Moreso his because it's just bolt on stuff.
