Andrew - while you are in there - can you check the rating of the fuse in the alarm module - I meant to check it last time I had the car apart.... For a write up I am doing...

Thx,
Alan

No problem! Can't guarantee it'll be tonight, but I'll post as soon as I get in there.

Alan:

I appreciate the continued reassurances. The hatch option has moved up higher on the To Do list right after I finish the sound system.

OK Bill - it's too late now - you have to do it...

Here is the schematic you want - you may need to mod the lock part as needed for your model year - sounds like you did that part already...

Here is the relay lockout you wanted...

Alan:

I've had the keyless entry working for a year or so wired into the harness from the alarm module behind the center console in my 89 (er, or is that the central lock module?), including the lights, with diodes, but I didn't notice the horn lead there, so I wired that into the central electric. Your schematic should help me get the hatch done even if the alarm module is somewhat different.

Alan:
Swung by RS on the way home tonigt, but all they had was a 1a and a 3a. So I looked at mouser and allelectronics and got way confused! Too many choices. 200PIV, 600 PIV, etc. Can you please look up a part number from either of these guys or another souce and post it here? Then I'll be sure to get the right kind. Sorry, but I just don't know enough to keep from blowing stuff up. Thanks.

Andrew - OK here:

http://www.allelectronics.com/cgi-bi...100&type=store

CAT# P600M or
CAT# D660

Both are 6A 2 for a buck not too bad....

PIV is a voltage spec (peak inverse voltage - you will be under 20V so any of these are major overkill...)

Randy,

The PO did this with the Cobra system on my GTS... new alarm sytem with remote entry and remote starting... in the words of my boss when I started the car in front of him going to dinner...
"aw now your just showing off..." ROFL

However don't now if this is the best or easiest system to instal, but it has been reliable.

Randy,

Here is what it looks like under the cover - I'm not really very happy with it and do plan some further improvement eventually (plug in connectors etc - it been installed for about 3 years and has been very reliable - so its functionally good. The wiring can run from here directly under the seat rail (there is a handy gap). It is totally concealed and yet quite quick to get to... A very easy location to work on especially if you can make it all removable from the car.

Don't tempt me. You might have the entire family show up.

Alan,
Thanks again for you help. Mine has been installed for two years without any problems.
I still have the factory amp so I installed my system on top of the factory alarm module using velcro. There is enough room under the seat to do this.

Is there anyway to use the Porsche OEM keyheads with these aftermarket alarms?

Does anyone have a preference between the Commado KE-30 or Crimestopper CS-865RKE? I am ready to pull the trigger.
