The rims are scraped up and much is scuffed. The car could be a cream puff if the right person got a hold of it and brought it back to life.

Looks like it's a "rub strip delete" car too.

If you want to see just how bad this bonehead owner neglected this car, look at the interior sunroof trim..
I can just tell by looking at the paint finish, it is in dire need of some TLC!
I just noticed too, they claim it has Sport Seats, though you cannot see them...and then it lists "memory seat position" which you CAN see...It ain't got no stinkin' Sport Seat mang!

I really don't know why I want a GTS-
My current S2 has several huge advantages over a typical GTS.
First of all, and most important: I know EXACTLY where I stand from a maintenance point of view with this car: Clutch- 80%, since I did it three years ago. Timing belt- I helped do this two years ago, and it has two years or 25k miles to go. It's tight- I'm going to try to loosen it a tad, but it is wearing gently and most important is SOLID. Tires? Brand new, and the ride height/ alignment is correct. S2? This one runs....good, 95% of the time now. I use a quart of oil in 3000 miles, despite the gouged cylinder wall.
Second: It costs me nothing. $50k for a GTS? My current S2 has no car payments. I paid cash in 1999, so I haven't had car payments in the past ten years = $0 flushed. I spent just over $500 for maintenance on my S2 in 2005, so go ahead and divide that by 12 to get the per month. Insurance? I think I spent just over $700 for full coverage [$500 comp/collision deductibles] for this car last year. Really, the cost of gas is my biggest expense, since I get about 13.5 miles per gallon driving around town.
[If you do the math in the previous paragraph, you'll find that you can't own a new Dodge Neon for what I spent on that car last year. Of course you all know this already.]
What would the payment be on a $50k car? I don't know, but I suspect about $800 per month. It might be higher- expensive cars that are old such as GTS's can't get 60 month financing usually.
In any case, I don't know what it is about the GTS that is so fascinating- I guess it is the exclusivity or something. A car is worth what you pay for it...

Normy -
I felt EXACTLY the same way. Lusted after one and couldn't figure out precisely why. It was only after I finally bought one that I discovered why:
I first owned a brand new '84 back in the day. I found myself thinking, "Great car... If only it had a little more power and torque."
Then, more recently, I got back into 928's with an '86.5. I found myself thinking, "Great car... If only it had just a wee bit more power and torque. And if only it had a little wider stance from the rear."
With the GTS, there have been no "if only's."
Edit: And you can find plenty of GTS's under $40K. Yeah, they won't be showroom perfect, but a little tinkering and fixing up is half the fun!

Well, I've decided to see if we can make the car in Houston into a "nice" GTS. I've made a deposit/committment to buy, contingent on it being as represented by Joe Maniaci (the salesman, and previous owner of one of Mark Anderson's GT's) in the several communications we've had, as well as the Ferrari of Houston's web site posting of the car. It is obvious there are things that need to be done to it (driver's seat bolster is worn through), paint, some scratches, chips, etc. Anyway, I'm going to fly to Houston on Thursday to examine it, then drive it back to PA if it looks/drives like a car I want to live with for the next 6-10 years (at 68, I probably shouldn't be driving a GTS in 10 years !!! - ha.
Assuming the purchase goes through, Earl Gillstrom and I will learn the intricacies of a GTS over the next year!!!
Cheers, and wish me luck!!

LOL! No not a repaint, that was right after a thorough washing with a lot of clay bar. Squeeky clean, no wax or polish.
Thanks
