Would You Sell Your Shark?
OK. Realizing that everything is "for sale" if the price is right, let's remove the extremes right from the start. You ain't gonna sell if someone offers you a buck fifty-nine. We'd probably all sell if the Sultan of Brunei offered us a million. But no one ever will.
So...
Are you determined to hang onto your shark no matter what? Even if you get an offer on the generous side? Or are you willing to part with it if the offer is pretty dang good?
If you are, what would you sell it for?
*Disclaimer: The answers are not necessarily to be construed as an actual offer to sell!*
Since mine has been in one wreck that I know of and can document - and since I know I therefore can't get Willhoit prices - I'd be willing to listen pretty hard at anything 33K or above.

Well Bigs, my 928's aren't in the same league as yours, but if someone were to wave 4K under my nose for my 81', it would be gone. My 84S is my baby now but money talks. So I think if one were to arrive at my house with 7K, I would let it go. I am sure that that seems high, but that is what it would take for me to let it go bye bye.

You'll have to pry mine out of my dead cold hands...if you really want it THAT bad!
Or find me one of the same model year, in amazon gree, cobalt blue, violet blue, or black with classic grey supple leather, heated seats, no side moldings, less miles and all the expensive stuff already done that's been done on mine. Since it's not going to happen, see above.
Or I'd have to be in some financial trouble, which I'm trying hard to stay out of.

NO WAY !! Would change powerplant if needed and petrol not available first- waited 18 years for this car and if I knew how much I really like it, should have begged or borrowed the moneyt to buy it in 1987.

Everything is negotiable. As much as we all feel that the car is a part of the personality, the car can be replaced. All it takes is $$ and time. Everything is negotiable.

I would sell my S4, but not my 80 US. If I were out in an open sky state, I would never sell my S4. The 80 is just as good for the roads around here, and I like its personality.
If I keep my 89, I will continue to tweak it, but the reality is that it is already faster than I need to go. Pulling hard in second to 75+ MPH and hitting third gear I'm already going stupid fast. This car wants open roads and long drives, not a trip to the milk store. But I want those really wide front tires, and an X pipe and maybe an SC conversion. I'm already upside down on this car, so yeah, I guess I would sell if the offer was around 19K. Then I could return to planet earth and cars built for mere mortals.
Funny thing is, I don't seem to be advertising the car... go figure.

This selling question has come up in our family regarding my wife's 1989 928S4, AT. I saw the prices of newer 996s coming into the affordable range for us and began thinking hard about selling the S4. But we have come to realize that the S4 is one of the easiest "supercars" to live with. We have hauled home all manner of large purchases to inlude lumber, our last Christmas tree, a barbeque, and just recently a power washer in a large box in the 928. Could never do all that with a 996. Feels great on the road and gets noticed just about every day we drive it due to it's distinctive shape which looks like nothing else on the road. More than a few people have come up to us and said they had a 928 once and wish they never sold it. One just recently who came up to us with his grandson in a parking lot said that and he has a newer 996 cabriolet. My wife loves to blast around in it and always comments on how good the brakes are. I also do most all of the work on it and now feel that I can tackle just about anything that can come up. So at this point we are keeping it and will do so for a long time! They aren't making anymore and they are getting scarcer since many are being gutted, wrecked, or just plain run into the ground.

It was 21 years for me and i like it more than i thought i would. I also have a somewhat unique shark that i have done much work on. It would have to be major stupid money that would allow me to buy a low mile gts and enough left over to ease the pain. So not very likely.

I plan on keeping mine regardless and would someday like to add to my current fleet of one; it's way too much fun not to have around and it took way to long to get it. However, I'm slightly torn between "Not no, but HELL NO" and the "stupid money" concept. I guess I can be bought, but unless some villiage's idiot approaches me, I won't know exactly what that number is...
