Leave it to you Bigs, to ask a question no one can resist answering..........Price clears all hurdles.....I am not sure how I would price this particular hurdle, but it would not be cheap....

I really enjoy the car and I like the challenge of working on it....I can't imagine getting more than $25k for it as it exists in its current condition, and I suspect it being supercharged would significantly limit the market. Bottom line, I am ok with that as I have always intended to keep it. At some point, when for what ever reason, I find that it is just sitting there wasting away, I may change my mind. At my age, hotrodding down the road has lost much of its allure.....and I suspect that condition will only get worse. I have owned this car for longer than any other, since 1992......But ALL THINGS must pass.....

I have had the same arguement with myself about my Harley.....then, when I take it out for a ride I get religion again.....

the only reason I'd ever sell my shark is to:

A. Change to a different colour. I don't like red. Guess what colour my 86.5 is? Yup, Guards Red.
B. Move to an S4 or earlier (GT would be sweet!).

Unless finances dictate the sale for emergency reasons, I will NEVER be sharkless!

So, anyone want to trade their non-red S4 for my 86.5 which has a lot of new stuff? hehe

Mine would be sold per a generous offer.

Not planning on getting one. Not planning on selling.

(Hmmmm.....Did I mention that it only has 68k miles on it, drives fast, and has seats in good condition?)

I guess everything has its price, but I don't see the mysterious stranger coming along with a $20K check wanting mine..... If the offer did come I would have to consider it....but only if I found a super clean GT in the right color combo to replace my car.... I can think of one right now that fits the bill?

If I had the patience to deal with inspection appointments and the time and work necessary to get a buyer interested in paying a fair price (for a niche market Euro)- it'd be outta here.

sick of

I should probably note the caveat that, by 'fair', I mean in terms of the general market (within some % of NADA for example-- even realizing that is not a common benchmark for actual 928 sales), not educated 928 owners that are on the hunt for bargains.

Just sold my 88. Making room for a 993 Cab. (way to good a deal to pass up) But then again, I am blessed enough to have two other sharks. Never say never, but I won't sell either of the remaining Sharks until I retire. Part of my retirement plan. And even then it's going to take someone with more money than brains to buy either. On thing is for sure, never be Sharkless.

I wish I'd never sold my 1962 Austin Healey, not because of value now, but the fun of the drive and ice braker capability. Now I have a Porsche 928, "supercar" category. It's like owning a Ferrari/Lam/Mas only cheaper to get! Regardles of how much I payed for it, it's still is and feels like a "supercar". If I'd sell this one, I would surely have the same dream/nightmare I have about the Healy.... And how long would it take to find a comparable ride!?
Folks with alot of money swaps car like underpants. I don't have that type of $$, I waited a looooong time to get a "Machine" like this one, I intend on keeping this one...unless Holy Marie appears before me!

Edit : My comment about swaping cars as nothing to do with Sierra's new aquisition. I started writing this post before the previus one appeared..

Well, all of the above considerations apply, but the thing that would stop me would be not knowing the history of whatever GT or GTS would replace it. I've put too much time, effort and yes money into what I have. It's important to me to know that the P/S lines were replaced in '03, etc. It's getting near mint and no one would give me enough to make it worthwhile to start over or to cover the mint car that I might consider, which is pretty much what everybody is saying. Bigs has "Movin-on-up" itis.

Being one that is never satisfied (or as DR puts it...fickle) I'd sell everything I own except for my 85 CRX Si.
And to put some value to it I would list them as such (i'll hit the highlights):
1993 GTS 6.5L stroker....$55k
1989 GT....$16k
1979 928 Cab...$16k
...the rest are just fodder.

They can have my shark when they can pry it out of my cold dead fingers....or when they hand me $15k cash.
