This was a terrific event... I'll second the five star rating and all of the other positive comments. Assuming that the pattern holds, that future events will only get better, this one is a "must attend". Great bunch of people(as always) and the scenery was just breathtaking.

Keith, I did see a white flash, just for a moment there... Sounds like you had a real fun ride.

My AC conked out at some point on the trip... I have to go look, hopefully it's just a fuse. Performance was definitely affected at that altitude. Bill Ball was probably the only one getting normal S4-at-sea-level performance due to the additional lung... I imagine that everyone else was getting a taste of how my OB performs at sea level. As for how my OB was performing.... well, let's not go there. It was all good though, as I had more time to enjoy the spectacular scenery.

I have a few pics as well, and will try to get them posted in the next couple of days.

Tim & Cheryl.... Thank You, Thank You, Thank You... What a fabulous event!

Yes Keith, I-80 was awful! We had a brief scare along the way in our little caravan. We were proceding along nicely at @ 75 mph when a CHiP in a Tahoe comes flying up, lights ablaze!!! We all figured we were toast, but luckily for us he came by to run a traffic break due to an accident in that construction zone. We had to crawl along at 35 mph for several miles, very frustrating!! Did see you come by as I was dealing with the usual non-driving looky-loo's gawking at yet another accident . Nicole, Dave and I made up for some lost time a little later on I-5 Great fun, saw Nicole laughing it up a time or two as I went by.

Yea, we saw the accident too, but the traffic didn't get any better after that for a while. Judging by the way they are refurbing that area, it's a wonder why there weren't more accidents! After surviving that run, watching motorist behind us and in front of us jockying all over the road for position, seeing people cut each other off...including me, trucks in the #1 lane, cars and SUV's with trailers drifting into adjacent lanes, I wanted out of there at the first possible moment! We were amazed to catch up to all of you as you had all left no less than a half hour earlier. We saw Brian and the "flat tire car" first as we were breaking out of the pack. A few more miles up we came upon your group and all I had was tunnel vision to the 5. I needed off that thing bad! LOL

I likened it to carrying a tray full of martini's in the midst of a fire in a zoo! Man!!!!!

Glad we all made it back unscathed.

I can't add anything that has not been said already about the event. I only got to attend Fri nite and Sun. ( daughters b-day ) Maybe we can move it up a week to avoid that conflict in the future. Just kidding! I had a great time on the Sun drive and at the BBQ at Tim and Cheryl's beautiful home. Am looking forward to next year. Guess I should feel lucky to live less that an hour away. I took a pic of George on top of Tims roof getting ready for one of group photos.

Keith -- We went one exit West on 80 from 89 for gas & plumbing, stopped to yak for a bit. Then we were caught in the traffic break that Bill mentioned. You must have had to work your way through a huge clot of traffic, all the backup caused by the traffic break. We were trying to keep a caravan of 6 together also. But... nothing cuts through traffic like a solitary shark...

Bill -- Yeah, I-5 was fun.... if seeing 4 bears feeding in a one mile stretch, and an "All-clear-ahead" from the V1 isn't some kind of a sign I don't know what is! Hey, whatever happened to that cellphone pic? I wish I had one of that Z4 driver's face as our trio roared past.

Brian -- There was one other mechanical failure... when I rewired my fuse panel with the 40A power relay for the AC clutch I put a used power relay in there. That relay failed and caused my AC to give up the ghost. I could have fixed it at any of the stops but I didn't know it was so simple and didn't want to hold up the group by starting a big diagnosis session. I was having too much fun and it wasn't that hot out.

George.... awesome work on the photos! I need to get mine up, but I'm too busy looking at yours... Can you PM or email details about that batch resizing software that you mentioned?

Ron -- It was good seeing you and Debbie again! Good luck with that radiator!

Rich -- That was quite a hike for you from AZ, but I'm glad you and Betsy made it. It was nice seeing you again!

Tim & Cheryl --

Thanks again for your hard work on this very successful get-together!

Tim & Cheryl:

AWESOME job, including on the weather! We had loads of fun. This is the first 928 event for my wife except for a very brief appearance at one of the Sharks in the Park, and it was the best kind of event to show her why the 928 community is so great. Who knows, she might begin to like it and attend more events.

Great to see everybody and putt around the Lake. Unfortunately, it was back to work too soon.

And George, you took enough photos that it takes almost a whole weekend to look at them all. You practically made a movie frame by frame.

Till the next SATL,

Nice shot George!! That's a keeper.

Dave... p.m. me your email address and I'll send you that picture. It wasn't taken with my cell. Go ahead and post it if you'd like although I have no idea where that picture came from... I have about 180 other pictures I nedd to go through and will post once I resize them.

Well, George pretty much got all there is to see (1000 pictures SHOULD cover it don't ya think???)

Here are some that I thought could be added...most of mine came out less than standard.

On our return we stopped by to say goodbye to Bob and Paula, the local 928 owners that joined our group for the Friday happy hour. Posted is the view of the lake from their home in Incline Village. Could you imagine waking up to this every day!

Here are some S4 facts for our trip AZ to Tahoe (the long way through central CA) and return to AZ via Las Vegas. This is for my '87 S4 loaded with two passengers and luggage. Travel varied with high speed freeway and multiple excursions up and down mountains from near sea level to 8000 ft.

Total Travel: 2330 miles
Total fuel: 114.6 gallons
MPG: 20.3 average

Crusing in style! We took a an interesting route from Tahoe to Las Vegas that puts you on roads pretty much guaranteed to have no police speed patrol on Nevada 306 around to US95.

- Left US395 to Holbrook Junction
- Left (East) on NV208 to Schurz 23 miles
- Right (South) ALT95
- Right at NV306 to Basalt
- Left on NV6 for 6 miles
- Right on NV264 to past Dyer 24 miles
- Continue past state line, becomes CA264, back to Nevada 264
- Right on US95 abut 160 miles to Las Vegas

Tim & Cheryl,

Thank you so much for a wonderful weekend...sorry we got there a bit late, Marc might have to fire the navigator for going to South Shore - oh well, we did our tour around the lake a little prematurely.

Oh and I just today "got it" with regard to the two cute presents for Julie and Lily. Wonder if they will be racing against each other some day?

We sure did enjoy seeing everyone and looking forward to DEVEK Days coming up the first weekend in August..oh geez I gotta get busy!!!
