Who...ME??? Be that as it may, note the temperature in the picture... looks like that may have occurred a bit further south We did have a pretty good run after dispensing with the farm equipment, and I AM including the X5 in that (BMW X5, the Ultimate Chicane). We caught Dave A. and the rest of 'em a little off-guard on that launch!

I know I was about 5 cars back at that point behind Louie. I saw you guys launch and everyone behind you followed suit. Being that we had more distance to get up the speed, I couldn't tell you where my speedo needle was. I was primarily interested in keeping my eyes glued to the road and what may have been coming in the opposite direction. I know I came up behind Louie rather quickly...which is not an easy thing to do!

I have a feeling Bill was chatting on his cell on the 80 west and thought he was hitting END CALL, but clicked a picture unknowingly. Not tough to do when you have a latte in the other hand and steering with your knees

I was snoozing along with the rest of you guys, watching the grass grow behind those slugs. Took me a sec to realize that that you guys had pulled out... I get drowsy at farm implement speeds! Then I grabbed 4th... DANG! Nothing there! @%@$^&%@# altitude! Then I grabbed 3rd... feeling like I'm on a rowing team... and finally got 'er going! It's easy to forget the effects of altitude when you spend most of the time around sea level down here in flatlanderville. Even the ridgeline(Hwy 35) only gets to 2500 feet or so in a few spots.

Dave: I think your squirrels did pretty well, considering how hard they had to work!

Tim and Cheryl,

Sara and I would like to especially thank you for all the effort you went to in staging such a fun event as Sharks at the Lake. Being one of the newest Sharks to the pack, (This being the 2nd Sharks event we have attended). You really made us feel like one of the gang when you came to the rescue with loaning us your spare rear tire to be "Void of air" in Marc's expert opinion. And then more bad news, the service station could not repair the tire. The sight of all those beautiful sharks pulling into the service station while our Shark was temporarily wounded was too cool for words.

Later, on the drive home we, (Iceman and his wife Jolene, Sara and I) caught up to the Shark caravan outside Sacramento. After being blown-off by Keith at warp speed, (I guess I will always be known as the "Flat tire car" by the Socal 928ers) completing a truly wonderful weekend.

We will be calling to return your tires and wheels whne it is convenient for you.

Again, THANK YOU!
Sara and Gerry aka: gersar928

Hey gang,

I've got over 180 high resolution pictures that I am still going thru... If you would like, pm me your email address and I will send any I have of you and/or your car. Just let me know who you are and which Shark you have and I'll send 'em along. I've got a pretty nice group shot at Emerald Bay that I've already sent along to a few other Listers. Feel free to post anything I send you. What a great time eh? George, I even have a few of you!!!

HA...I just remembered something that happened on the way home. Jennifer and I stopped to take a bathroom break just north of Bakersfield. We were heading back to the car and she said that she saw some guy looking inside the GTS. We headed back to the car with me thinking someone may be trying to break in. When we got back there, this guy comes up and starts asking all kinds of questions about the car and how he has loved them since "Risky Business". I was rather relieved he appreciated it rather than wanting what may have been inside.

So then he then turns to his wife and says "Honey, if we ever win the lottery, we are getting one of these!!!" LOL...I wasn't gonna say anything, but Jennifer spoke up and said you don't have to, to own one. I would have preferred that we drive off and the guy thinking he just saw a car that was completely out of reach. Thats what I love about these things...most folks just don't know.

Keith, you didn't mention the part about having to take out a second mortgage to pay for the upkeep! We need to keep our mechanics and the big 3 in business, you know

Yeah.... buying one is not the delima.... keeping one & keeping it up is the negative annuity!!

But Lord knows there are much worse addictions & things to waste your time & money on right?? Someone say right!! I just have to walk out & look at it, much less get inside & drive it, or better yet, have someone give ya a double look or even ask you about it, & oh yeah...... its very much worth the addiction!!

And reading all the posts here about your Tahoe get together, I see everyone had the same great time we all did at SITM too!! Main comments for both events now seems to be "When can we all get together again?"

Going around South Lake Tahoe, folks were looking at the string of 928s, and I've heard comments like "Must be a car club".... Younger kids had big grins, heard some of them saying "All right", "Whooo-hooo!", one even "Nice car dude". Yes the 928 still makes waves.

On the way home, on the 5, there was a guy in a new MBZ SL500 looking at the caravan we had of 3 cars. With Bill leading, we were fast, not super fast, as there were many CHPs around. SL owner was behind me. That's a fast car, but I think he was observing the sharks, maybe wishing he could join the caravan.

As for maintenance, these cars need its own Capital Improvements Program. That's why I drive some other old junky car as a daily driver.
