Well, the car sat on the ground today for the first time. It has been started and ran for a couple of days..as i leak check..clearance check..adjust etc etc. Nit picky stuff really. I could bolt and go, but my line of work has refinforced a few things in the way i go about operating and working on my car.

Anyway, took her out for a 35 mile thrashing around town and on a few stretches of interstate. I slowly got braver and braver on the throttle. Once i was happy with my AF ratio not being even close to lean, i laid into it more and more.
My AF is on the 10ish-11 side! Yup, rich, but that is fine with me right now! Ill tweek it later.
OMG is an understatement. I can see myself liking this very very much My car has NEVER moved like this. i have a whole new animal on my hands!
I really didnt have much time to play as i still have some, no, A LOT, of custodial stuff to do to get ready for sharktober fest...like Laudry, packing, buying a case of beer, vacuuming and washing the car etc etc.. I did take the time to swing by Bills house, the owner of the Black S/C Koenig. I think i had perma grin when i pulled up. I told him to saddle up were going for a ride. He may chime in.

Im hitting 6psi, the tires are screaming bloody murder, i have all my temps hooked up and discovered something VERY interesting that i will share later when i have more time. The intercooler does a GREAT job as far as i can tell from my initial glances at the readings. I was too busy watching the road.

Its a mover!!..and guess what, i still have nearly a 1/2" of throttle travel left! Becasue of a geometry issue i have with the arms on the throttle linkages i actually dont get WOT with my foot to the floor. I have a solution, and it works, but i havent been able to get my part to the welder. In the meantime, i have a "self imposed" power limiter and thats fine with me at this point, but, i think Bill will attest you sure wouldnt know it.

Ive got another story to tell but that will be better shared at Sharktoberfest.
It involves a Crank shaft bolt....right Bill!

Its going to be a late night but well woth the effort from what ive experienced behind the wheel this afternnon!

Im officially a "Boostard"

cya all tomorrow!

Tell you one thing, Tony is one lucky SOB....

I had deja-vu as we were screaming up the 215.... nearly diverted disaster with the damn crank bolt!! I'll let Tony tell the full story, over a few beers I'm sure. I'll bring my battle damaged crank bolt and pulley from the Koenig as a conversation piece.... But I think we got the car drivable for tomorrow..

And yes, his car pulls like a friggin animal!! It lays rubber all through 1st and 2nd gear.

Tony,
Thank you for doing such a great job. You don't know how proud I am. I can 't wait to see the car tonight.

Everyone just forget the crankbolt torque from the manual. Use a cheater bar and "try to break it" carefully.

Tony,

It looks great! Very nice looking installation from the photos. Wish I could make it to Sharktoberfest to see it in person.

I really like the red textured finish on the valve covers. I think I'd just have to paint the "PORSCHE" letters black though.

I would ask you how much money you had into it, but I think that may be better left until I see you in person sometime. You never know when your wife might start reading the board here.

Sorry. Didn't mean to scare you like that.

I think its time we get all are install pictures up on the supermodel site, but please don't put mine near that work of art. 0-60 & 1/4 mile times will start coming down soon. But that install can't be surpassed, equaled maybe?

yer welcome, you bet, i was happy to label the living He!! out of it and show it off .
but IMHO...you cant tell folks that last line! As Carl told me, and hes correct and i should have known better, you have to hear a click! (click of the tq wrench) You dont know the TQ rating on the threads on the bolt, in the crankshaft or even the ones holding the flyheel lock in (yes that is a factor..i know from past experience)! You MUST have a known tq to set it to, whether 218ftlbs or 280...300. You have to set it to a known IMHO!
Longer bolt, correct washer, red loctite, properly prepped threads and i will be set.
I also have an idea for securing the bolt...but the items above should work fine .
The bolt is on there now with a good pull on a cheater bar..with loctite..clean and prepped threads, but it aint going out of my garage until i find a 250Ftlb capable wrench. "CLICK". I made the 600 mile trip with no issues and i made boost a bit here and there, but i dont like that seat of the pants feeling knowing i have done something the way i shouldnt have. It will ALWAYS come back to bite you!!

I look back at things and it was my own doing, i didnt clean and prep the the threads, the bolt had sat around in my garage getting gaawds knows what sprayed or rubbed on it, and i didnt use a TQ wrench or loctite. In avaiation, ALL accidents can be traced to a "chain" of events prior. As i look back i can see a bunch of them when I dealt with this bolt, IT WONT HAPPEN AGAIN! I can easily live to tell about it, but look at this picture....will my engine??
This bolt requires precision and proper installation. PERIOD.!

And when a crank bolt has come loose or any issue crops up, i would like to be made aware of it from whomever! not just a smiley after the fact.

Let me dig up a pic of a BROKEN BOLT half in the crankshaft from Bills Koenig with an "easy out " stuck in it! you dont want that to happen by any means.....do you Bill! , Painfully and slowly, on and off, bit by bit, iIt took a week didnt it? He only had one shot !

Anyway, thanks Z, Chris and others. Hows that breather system look Z? I told ya im taking notes!! A little bit of OTT..little bit of Z..little bit of Murph..little bit of Andy ..and A LOT of me! So far so good!

I looked at http://members.rennlist.com/v1uhoh/w...rankpulley.JPG and found that the file extension has to be lowercase for it to work. You should be able to edit your post and fix it. Try this link: http://members.rennlist.com/v1uhoh/w...rankpulley.jpg

BTW, AWESOME setup, Tony.... Definitely some pools of droll around your car this weekend. Congrats on the "Best Engine Bay" award!
