Default Another SC "Supermodel" 928 hits the pavement

Since i posted these on another thread in relation to a differnt topic, I may as well start another one thats more specific.

Ill post a dyno and the "performance" numbers once I "shake it down" a bit.

Ive got 100's of pics of various "stuff" ive done in the install.

Some highlights and features.

Autorotor blower
Intercooled

Pullied for 7ish PSI, but my hope is to make more boost than Andy for a given pulley. We will see.

Ford 30lb injectors

Custom remote mount of the Adjustable fuel regulator and boost regulator, makes adjustments a breeze!

Custom fit steel braid hose lines with press/crimped fittings from my local Aeroquip dealer.. There aint a hose clamp to be seen.

"Cool Air" intake in the fender with a good size KN Cone filter and 3.5" tubing...with room for 4" tubes and a Ford 105mm T/B.. !.

custom expansion tank with level sender

Stock cooling fans with a modified shroud that allows the assembly to be removed in no more than 5 minutes. Removing the various oil and tranny cooler lilnes is no longer required. That one mod alone has saved me hours already!

custom Heat exchanger fill tank...the yellow plastic washer res. neck wasnt going to cut it.

LM-1 Wideband O2

928 Motorsports 3 "hole" A-pillar pod...sporting Boost, Fuel pressure and A/F ratio

4 K-type thermocouples place throughout the intake track, the yellow things you see (filter, pre SC, post SC,Post intercooler) to measure temps and hopfeully improve on things in the future.

Ford cobra heat exhanger in the front bumper

appx 2.O gal coolant tank in the passenger fender, below the filter

After market transmission cooler in series with the stock system in the front bumper

Custom Oil/air seperator and filler neck

Autometer Fuel pressure, water temp , oil temp, tranny temp, boost gauges.

Water crossover manifold tapepd for water temp

Oil pan bolt tapped for Oil temp

ARM1 narrow band A/F display

soon to get LM1- A/F display and multi point data logger.

oh...and thats a stock S4 throttle body you should see the carnage of the stock assembely after that bit of fabrcation. That little thing is a a piece of work! Getting at the idle stabilizer is a snap now!

Powder coat in wrinkle "Robin red" and black

most fasteners, brackets etc replated in yellow zinc or have spent some time on my buffer wheel!

...and other stuff...yadda, yadda

My goal is to make the other Autorotor cars look slow to 60mph and in the 1/4mi. In due time Ive always had in my mind a HP/TQ goal, but over time during this installation i have changed my thinking to more of a performance aspect...certain times, speeds, etc etc, If my curent set up gets what i want, i will stop...if not,i will keep going, athough i will probably keep going any way as thats my nature and this is fun.

Anyway, i gotta go. as "murphys law" dictates I sprunk a leak in a PS hose somewhere and i have 2 days to Sharktoberfest and im walking a very thin line with the wife

Very cool Tony! ...been following your progress and I'm glad to read you'll be on the road for Sharktoberfest. This is the best looking SC install I've seen on a 928.

Enjoy drving and tuning it.

Wow that looks great Tony. That linkage and fuel pressure unit look like they would rub the hood/bonnet, but I am betting they dont.

Tony,

WOW!! That is the best SC install I have seen to date. Talk about looking stock . . . unbelievable. Just stick a Porsche crest on top of the twin screw and it will look factory installed. Can I ask what your performance goals (times for 0-60 and 1/4 mile) are or would you rather wait to reveal those?

Very nice job. You are a master.

Thumbs up

Tony, Very nice. Know that you can't wait to terrorize the Mustangs and Road runners(beep beep) in the desert.
Be sure to budget for tires!

Thanks Flott and all.

yeah i've toyed with the Porsche crest thing, I have a decal i will place on there and perhaps snap a pic or two and put it to vote. For now it stays as is.

As for performance goals and "revealing" those, no problem. I don't view them as true goals if you post them "after the fact". My principle goal was "stock and awe" and i think i may have done it to some degree. Id like to think so. Its tough to say "stock" when you have that blower on the engine, but i tried to keep it somewhat subdued.

Anyway....
0-60 faster than Andy , so i suppose 4.1 should do it.
1/4 mile in under 12.4
top speed... 211mph

Tenths of a sec and a few mph may seem small but we all know they are tough to come by! Sure would be nice to lay claim to the fastest, quickest, street driven and street legal 928 in the US....the world.
Well, how about on my block for now.

Ed, as far as the Mustangs, they were BIG influence and driving force behind what i did. Like i said and will always say, dont pick on the wrong Cobra.

I guess i also need to thank everyone who participates on this list as this project truly would have been tougher with out you all. So many questions have been answered by so many people. Many questions answered knowingly and even more answered via the sharing of knowledge, the true beauty of this forum and the internet. Ive had help from Andy, Tim Murphy, Carl, Mark, Marc, Jim, Dave, Lags etc etc and countless others. Each bit of info at some point, however obtained got filed away and later was combined to produce a tangible idea or part. Thank you. I operate with no personal boundaries or agendas. Im good for stirring the pot a bit, but thats as far as it goes.

Life is good.

I believe you will. But will hold the title only for a few weeks after my "87 gets to Atlanta.
