928 #4
After a four year journey of the search, the contact with the owner and a few cross country flights I have secured another very early 928. 9288100014 was hand built in January of 1977 along with the other 11 Press Cars and was registered in February of 1977 by the porsche factory with license plate S-CX 2135.
#4 attended the Press Launch then appeared in a few magazines and a very unusual Sekurit Glass advertisement. History is currently unknown from 1977 to 1980 where it ended up in a used car dealership in Denver Colorado. This is where and when "Mike" (the owner I bought it from) started his 42 year ownership.
Car had suffered a complete repaint and minimal federization by the time Mike bought it in 1980. It retains its KM per hour working speedo with working odometer reading very low mileage. Mike represents that he maybe put 2000 km on it during his ownership, and his collection of other cars had very similar biographies. Many aspects of the car reflect the low miles including the driving feel and a number of original wear items that remain intact.
Fortunately every unique Press Car item is present, including the first press car tool kit i've ever seen. I finalized this arrangement today, and there remains much exploration and documentation to pour through.
Here's a few pics from its early history and some from today.

Spy shot of the happening...
Soooooooo COOL that Andrew has put this group of cars back together! The chances of someone pulling this off are remote at best, but with enough perseverance, strategy and attention to detail, it actually happened...
