Mike knew the car was special. The car was not advertised for sale since 1980 so I had to find Mike through a network of relationships I have developed over the decades. I'm not going to go into the details of how its done because it's a different path with every vehicle. I will say perseverance is the most valuable asset in these searches as there are many many hours spent pursuing many dead ends.
The interior is indeed all green with black/beige pasha. It has the identical build idiosyncrasies of 928 #1 and 928 #2 which are detailed on those threads. The interior is in very good condition (just really dirty) no dash cracks, all original upholstery intact, original working radio, etc.
The old Pirelli P6 tires have full tread with a very old date code, does anyone know this date?
This car is by far the best example of a Press Car that I own, at least. Regarding #3... well I just hope it's still out there, maybe it will surface one day.
Three digit date codes were used up until the year 2000 (when they went to 4 digits). 1st 2 digits = week, then the last digit is year. So 270 = 27th week. The 0 means 1980 or 1990. Since there's no small triangle at the right end of the window (which indicates 1990s), I'd guess 1980.

Amazing find and great job. Your perseverance really pays off and thank you for sharing it with our community.
You are one of the great ones to ensure our 928 are held up to the pedestal that it deserves.
Congratulations and thank you!
Thanks Hoi but I'm just having fun chasing these things. It has been part of my mission to raise interest and awareness of these cas OUTSIDE of the 928 community as well. The generational realities dictate a rising wave of interest in 80s 90s Porsches and I am very happy to see legions of new younger Porsche 928 fans being able to appreciate the model. It helps that the "Air cooled are the only Porsches" propaganda is as about as popular as VHS tapes in that age group.

Have you picked it up and taken it home from the drop off point yet? Cant wait to see what it looks like after some loving and rubbing and buffing goes on...
