Default ‘79 Medial Headlight Adjustment

So, taking the advice of a few members, I tried to medially adjust my headlight, as the current placement prevents the headlight from rising. As you can see in the photos, I can’t “pull” the headlight towards the midline because the internal body panel is already extremely close to rubbing as currently set. I’m guessing my only option will be to adjust the fender?? Please let me know your thoughts as well as how to loosen the fender for adjustment. (If that’s what I should do)

Different car, but maybe there's something of interest here that might help:

Good luck

Quick Question on the bar the lights are connected to. If you grab onto the bar and move it laterally, back and forth, should there be any play at all. Mine seems to have a tiny bit of movement.

Okay. Back at this. Found some ways to adjust the headlight, however, I couldn’t adjust it toward the center of the car. Below are a couple pics, one of the underside of the headlight, the other of the bar the headlights are attached to. I tried loosening the 2 bolts on the bar but I couldn’t slide the bar. Should I be able to? Any suggestions?

I’m trying to revive this thread for some additional help. I was successfully able to move the light inwards. Now my other problem is, when the lights are engaged, they continuously cycle up and down. It has a brand new relay, which didn’t help and I’m almost positive the headlight motor wiring is correct. Before I pull the motor to check it internally, I had 2 questions. 1. Should the stop post be touching the HL bracket when the light is at the highest point, thus “telling” the motor to stop? 2. Is there anything else you’d recommend trying before pulling the motor? Thanks all.

Here is a video. I’m not positive this how the wiring is currently but this is what it’s doing.

The motor stops in the right position due to the switch track inside the top of the motor - this is communicated via the 3 non-motor wires (the motor wire is the red/black one) back to the relay to control the operation. Something about the position feedback track isn't working. Do put the year of your car in every post (add it to your signature) - it makes a real difference to what the answers might be.

Sorry Alan, I keep forgetting to add it to my signature and including it in my posts. It is a '79. I've worked some with Wayne and he has shared some of your info with me. I don't have the appropriate print-outs with me but I am using option B (or 2) if that makes any sense to you. This was based on my testing for conductivity of the 4 wires with the multimeter.

I’ve exhausted everything I can think of/been told. I just pulled the motor. I’m going to take pics as I take it apart to get thoughts. Here is the first couple.

Before I proceed any further, I wanted to get thoughts on the pics below. I’m sure that is a special kind of putty but…

Well you know the motor works electrically. Its only the diodes at the top (test them) and the wiper track that you need to focus on. For the motor to run I'd expect the wiper contact is OK. You don't show the wiper track - can you.

Are you sure nobody messed with the connections to the motor (like perhaps inadvertently swapping the positions) - did it ever work properly for you? can someone with an early car tell the order of the connections by color to verify.

Hi Alan, I’m not familiar with the different parts of the motor. Could you explain what the wiper track is and how to test the diodes (and exactly where they are…sorry). Supposedly it worked at some point. However, ever since I saw the car the first time, they didn’t work.

I’ve tried ever combination, however, most recently these 3. Option B should be correct based on the continuity I think
