Headlight bar alignment.grr
Ok, so I found how to adjust the drivers side assembly forward so it doesnt rub on the fender when closed anymore...but at rest the drivers side light sits too high, and when the lights are up, the drivers side light is up at the stop and point to the road ok but the pass side light points at the trees, its like 10 degrees from coming up enough, and i dont see whats stopping it.
How cant it be rotated on the bar, wrong??

I have the exact same issue on my 89. I have yet to tear it apart again but there are supposedly 2 or 3 bolts on the underside of the bucket that allows fore and aft movement. I just have not had the energy to remove the wheel liner and associated parts to get to the underside of the bucket.

Is there possibility of damage? I had this issue with my new '89 where the headlight was broken off at the yoke by a deer. There was no visible damage/bending/warping to the headlight base or bar, even comparing it out of the car with the replacement but it would not fully raise up. I swapped them on the car twice because I couldn't believe my results but the replacement operates perfectly and the old leaves a 15-20mm gap to the raised position stop bracket. There is really no adjustment possible to match the alignment of the left and right sides that I could figure out. The two bolts to each side of the central bar connected to the motor only allow a minute amount of axial adjustment.

1- make sure the retaining pins are in the assembly. i have seen a few cars where they are GONE so the headlight does whatever it wants.
2- make sure the bucked arm is fully seated and "locked" in to the "main" arm (the one that is pinned to the bar, and has the "quick break" latch, incase some think blocks the bucket when retracting.
3- you can get slight up and down adjustment via the back nut/bolt on the pivot arm mounts on the fender. super slight.
