I've had my car only two months. I've noticed a small spot on the driveway that will recieve attention in its own time, as I have larger issues first. It's a red-headed stepchild of a car though, a Euro spec 83, with a US spec engine but the CIS was kept from the first unit. Engine runs fine as far as I or my mechanic can discern. The oil spot is quite small all thing considered.

my car was a mess in Dec. when I bought it. Is all fixed? No, I have a slight rear main seal leak, but doesn't leave a driveway signature. There is a lot of labor involved in getting to many of the common leak spots. If a 928 owner is a good mechanic, it will be a lot cheaper to own one.

Thats my problem, I can change oil, but that about it. I used to try to work on my cars, but usually they are worse off because of it. I have to resort to using local shops, but as you know they charge an arm and a leg and an elbow.

I just gently snugged up the oil pan bolts which helped, but I still get a few drops from the oil pressure sender.

I have no leaks now. The drip pan moved over to my 2002 Explorer. But it was a lot of work getting there.

When I bought my car a few years ago (89K), it had leaks at both valve covers, oil fill tube, breather hoses, power steering hose, timing belt tensioner, and the oil pan gasket. I replaced the hoses/seals, all over a year or so.

But the hardest part was degreasing everything. That's something most won't pay shop rates to do.

I have an occasional drip from the differential housing. It is maybe a drop every few weeks - hardly worth mentioning. It's been checked by mechanics, and the recommendation is not to touch it unless it becomes significant.

I did have leaks fixed in the past, though. Torque converter seal, oil pan gasket and valve cover gaskets are what I remember at this moment.

Your poll shouldn't be about how much it leaks, but where...

No drips, but just noticed an oil pan bolt is misplaced.

Our cars are bleeding hearts, and that is why we love them. Let it bleed. Drive.

Used to leak, now fixed. I had to go from the top down.

When I bought the car it was leaking from the cam towers. At least, I was sure of that much. There was too much oil everywhere to determine any more than that. This was a bigger job than I wanted to tackle in my driveway, so I sent it to Reitmeir's. I left there with all seals in the cam towers replaced, new crank seal, new TB, water pump, & all rollers, fresh tensioner, new seals & hoses throughout the oil fill/breather system, and a much lighter wallet. Not to mention all of the non-oil-leak related hoses, TB to plenum collar, CIS housing & TB gaskets, standoffs, etc.

Then, next time I had the front of the car up, I torqued the pan bolts. The ones above the crossmember rated more cussing than all the others combined.

The oil cooler lines were seeping -- not dripping -- from the radiator fittings.

By the time I did the power steering hoses the weekend before last, I was feeling pretty confident about things as I was no longer seeing wet oil underneath. Strangely, I used to see drips hanging off the fins on the oil pan, but no puddle. It was relatively dry when I was going through the power steering hoses, so I went over everything I could reach with simple green.

When I saw this thread, I grabbed a flashlight and looked. Still dry under there(crosses fingers, knocks on wood, prays to the shark gods)

Does ATF count as oil?

I have a leak in my torque converter and at the back of the transmission as well. Used to be worse, replaced some piping running from the transmission to the front.
Replacing the power steering hoses helped alot as well...

The worst leak on my car is from the Power Steering Reservoir or one of the hoses around there, it's so horrible it's difficult to tell. I have some degreasant ready to attack the area, but I'm not sure where to park the car when doing what will be a very messy job.

Hmmm 189 views, 42 votes. That's a lot of "not sures"

I had a leak and the oil went everywhere, so it was difficult to isolate. It looked as though it was a front seal, sump gasket and whatever else.

I found it was where the top oil cooler line connects to the side of the radiator- tightened the top hose connection and ok now for 6 months plus.

leaks so slightly that switching back to dino oil would probably make the seepage go away. I lke synthetic oil so I'll live with the seepage
