EZK ignition self tuning chip

Also, of note on the latest revision:
- Mini-reset on cold start. This caps the retard on all cylinders/rpm to a set level each day, in case of hard running or poor fuel, etc. during a previous drive.
- CEL code blinking at idle for sensor errors. 1 blink KS-1/front, 2 KS-2/rear, or 3 Hall sensor. Off idle the CEL is always on.
- Errors are not displayed until the chip activates at temp. GTS especially would produce errors only when cold.

How easy would it be to source a later stock LH EPROM? Can I just get one burned using the binary that 928s4.com has kindly archived?

The EZK-S has the external diagnostic communications code stripped out to save room for maps in the static RAM. However, it will blink out the major codes, as mentioned above.

Quote from Ken: " for the rest of 2023, orders for automatic transmissions also receive a complimentary PKsportmode kit for first gear takeoff, gear holding at part throttle, and intuitive light throttle kickdowns'
This combined with the previous features makes the EZK S very attractive to me. Totally stock '95 GTS engine with 150K miles (top end refresh done at 125K). I'm in, anxious to see the effect this chip has on a completely stock GTS automatic.

It will be a while before I get to install it, because I'm going to Germany this evening
While I'm there I'll be picking up an LH chip with diagnostics that Theo J is shipping for me, as I'm not sure I'll even be able to find the original LH chip that I took out 20 years ago

I unexpectedly ended up driving the 928 to Germany, as my other car had a hissy fit when I tried to leave on Monday night
I brought the EZK-S with me and have just fitted it in time for the return home, sadly the replacement LH chip has not turned up yet, so I'm still on the 'performance' chip with the rich map
Nevertheless I'm looking forward to the drive home where the first couple of hours are not on the highway, so ample opportunity for the EZK-S to build its map
I just want to confirm that I should use 95 RON from now on and not 98 RON

95 EU/RON (91 US/AKI) is what S4/GT were rated for. '87 and early '88 especially do not need higher as they have lower compression pistons.

Yes, use the octane level your engine was designed for.
There have been only a few exceptions reported. The most positive reports were stock GTS with automatic transmissions in Germany. Especially with the newest version of the chip and 102 octane fuel.

The problem with 95RON fuel in the UK is that it could be 10% ethanol, whereas 98RON must be no more than 5%
My car still has original dampers and pressure regulator, and I'm assuming these would be vulnerable to ethanol

Bonjour,
On my 88 S4 I’m running E85 since 2014 at 75% and since 2017 at 100%… dampers and regulator are original… no leak yet.
only leak I get has been on an injector.
cheers,
Raphael

Just out of curiosity, how fast can the maps "relearn" if, for instance, someone gets a tank of crap fuel? (Will the chip instantly pull out a whole bunch of timing?)
And can the maps re-learn when a new tank of good fuel is added?
I'm trying to imagine how many hundreds of hours you have invested, in this technology.....wow!
Very, very cool!
