it is my next planned expense on my 928 S4! But it is too hard to have to wait...

Don't wait - I have spent a LOT of money on this car over 4 years. This is the BEST £££ I have spent on it.

Jchasty,
I'm convinced the chip is great!!! The concept is great!!! and all the feedback are great!!! It is just a matter of time...
The best improvement on my engine I was able to feel so far has been the X pipe! => 20/30 more HP!!! I remember the engine breathing... as liberated from something blocking it... and different sound...
So if you feel better engine power, should be this amount of HP added??
Just to have an idea : do you have an X pipe installed? what's the difference compared to X pipe improvement?
I have a 1988 S4 with the old dash... I will prepare the dash for it ASAP!!!
Raphaël... (resisting... but how long????)

Hi Raphaël

Yes, I have an x-pipe and cat-delete. Makes it sound nicer, but smell worse!

I honestly didn't feel much difference when I did the x-pipe.

Maybe it's not the absolute number of HP, but the quality of the delivery?

When lockdown is finished, I'll get it back on the dyno; I have a baseline before the x-pipe of about 300PS, so will be interested in the post x-pipe and ESK-S chip results and maybe there'll be a difference in the torque / power curve from the dyno print out?

Lethargic and old (and heavy) are pretty much what I experienced whenever I got the chance to drive a 928 in the past.

Any chance of some more on-board videos to illustrate how more lively the engine feels, especially the throttle response when double-declutching?

Can you be a little more specific on what you want to see beyond what was in the video? I’m sure someone with a chip grab a video for you. I’mhappy to go out and take some videos. Im not very skilled at double clutching so we may need someone else for that.

Lethargic the 928 S4 engine???
stock engine is only 320/350 HP and this is not that much for now days car...
while shifting correctly at freeway toll there is not that much car that can follow mine...

Maybe you drove an S3? Or a 240hp 78-81?

On track I have to discipline myself to shift from gear 2 to gear 3 early because I hit hard the rev limiter most of the time on straight lines as the acceleration is nice and linear...

The car is heavy, yes. The engine is old design and the gearbox could be better but the engine is not lethargic... he gives all he has, when you ask it and as long as you want it...

I can’t let you talk about my baby like this!!! lol 😂

I have a couple of questions:

Does the chip provide any value on a stock 87 S4 or 91 GT? I have no plans to physically modify them. Does it need an LH chip as well or just the EZK chip?

Also has anyone thought of a way to maintain memory like a backup battery for the electronics?

question.

Disconnecting the battery causes a hard reset right?...all the previous work to optimize the timing is erased.?

is there a way to keep the ezk powered during a battery disconnect when you may be performing other maintenance?

I’m not as expert as Ken for sure... but from my experience on the 928 and my other old V6 engines is that each time you unplug the battery, the ECU is loosing all it has learned...
you will have to modify you car if you want to avoid that.
and if you intent to unplug the LH or the EZK without disconnecting the battery in the dark... you will ever disconnect the battery before doing it again...

I have Ken's S300 chips for the S4. Currently running the EZK and the car just runs better all around. Before taking my x-pipe and high flow cats off, the car had noticeable pull after the intake flap opened up. My low end power issues were also gone. Unfortunately, I won't be putting my x-pipe back on since the cats have finally died after 8 years (not bad for aftermarkets). I will be putting the LH chip in with my 24lb injectors to see if I can get some of that too end back.

Another owner on here had the EZK and an x-pipe on. He took it to the dyno and managed to make around 290 rwhp with only those two mods.

I'm anxious to see what the dyno is on the new chip with and without the x-pipe. Ken has said that the EZK chips in the past make up 80% of the gains when combined with his old LH chip.

I thought about soldering a 9V (or A23 12V) battery with a diode to the 12V supply inside the EZK case.

Now I am of the thought that relearning is probably good to do fairly often, EG. monthly due to seasonal weather changes - for N/A engines at least.
