Day Two - Crossed the 1200 Mile mark since leaving JAX on Saturday. The car and I are both fully set on heading WEST!

Had to cover nearly 700 miles today so spent most of the time on Interstate. It's actually the perfect way to travel in a 928!

Interstate scenery was BETTER than expected! When I was nearly worn out from Interstate driving, the Scenic Byway I chose to take, got my juices flowing again!

Mount Magazine Scenic Byway was an awesome addition. Cool little towns of:
Dardanelle, Magazine, Havana, Paint Rock and Paris. It was really great to cross the Arkansas River, twice!

Here's the map of the byway and a link the Scenic Byways site...

https://scenicbyways.info/byway/2158.html

Tomorrow is a 6 hour drive from Tulsa to Dodge City, KS. I'll be in the Boot Hill Casino or Saloon there by Sundown

I'm hoping I get a chance to stop and take pictures. I've also rigged up a high res, web cam to my Surface. Might use that to record video or snap a picture or two whilst in transit.

Safe travels everyone!

I think climbing the Sierras Im suffering a partially closed/stuck thermostat.

No IR gun, but both hoses are hot..cant tell which is hotter, because HOT.

Up -any- grade I will peg at top white line (AC off), and the temps recover pretty quick down any significant slope..

Staying the night in Reno seeing friends, and calling ahead my buddy found -1- thermostat in Reno, next door to my hotel. Will get that and another IR gun in the AM.

The only change to the cooling system recently was changing the upper rad hose that was bulging..and was in fact failing on the inside...I did this YESTERDAY.

Confirmed no air in system..seems quite normal otherwise.

The water is at right level, fans, work, flaps working properly as well.

Even standing still, reads hotter than normal.

Peak temps juuuust barely triggering the red light on the dash twice for split seconds while slowing down, and on on the sharktuner it was 210-212 at those two times, hovered ~196 the rest of the time. But didn't go any hotter even on the worst inclines.

WP is 2yrs old, maybe 8k miles, radiator is 3yrs old OE Behr. Both sides of the Temp2 sensor read within 4C of each other.

I see water 'circulating' in the tank, and I get hot air if I turn on the heat..so..water is being pumped...just seems the radiator isn't getting all of the hot water it should.

pull the fuse for the flaps after you have opened them.

Swap in another t stat.
Install a new rear seal (this is important).
Add a bottle of water wetter.

Default Contest

It was suggested that we have a contest..

How about a contest for the most interesting thing picked up by ones 928. Pictures before removal will be needed to qualify

I agree. So let's do this.... Roadkill 2020

Yes we occasionally do get Hail Storms. Mostly in the higher elevations.

I am praying that we do not get any while everyone is here. So far the weather does looks pretty good
