I just don't have anything better to do in my spare time.

I tried sanding some more of that separate fender today. Managed to find a thin spot (with sandpaper) at the front edge of it, so it's gonna be getting resprayed along with the bumpers too. Probably gonna wind up doing the same with the mirrors and sunroof at this point too. This time I'll probably use some plastic sheeting to make sides for the carport and protect the panels from nature.

Still waiting for the DA cutting pads I ordered, but I found some small cutting pads for the power drill sitting around. Decided to play around with doing some wetsanding on the top part of the hatch. This was after some wetsanding and meguiars m105 compound. I need to go at that part with some less aggressive compounds to take out the rest of the marks, but it's looking much better than the roof next to it. I've got a lot of sanding and polishing ahead of me.

I like. I am bondo-ing a dash now, and HATE all the effort...I can imagine prepping and painting an entire car! My hats off to you. If this dash works out as I hope, I have (2) more to do! Dreading it!

I didn't think the dash was as bad to do since it all gets covered and doesn't have to be perfect. I just hate that the weldwood is letting go in some places like where it wraps around the underside.

Managed to get the one rear quarter wetsanded and polished tonight. I think it came out pretty well.

I also sanded down the panels that got damaged by the rain. Hopefully tomorrow or Saturday I can get them repainted and cleared.

I did get the bumpers and other parts painted this weekend. They came out better than last time before they got ruined by the rain anyway. Apart from the one mirror which got a run in the clear coat and dripped onto the other mirror hanging below it. I'll have to see if that can sand out.

I also managed to sand through the paint on the door and had to repaint it at the same time too.

I was kind of tired of sanding for now, so instead I started putting some of the car back together. Sure it'll be harder to sand around stuff, but I'd like to be able to drive the car again.

Got the good fender put on.

I put the front bumper and headlights back on tonight. I hadn't painted the headlight buckets since they still were in good shape and living in the fenders out of the sun, but they don't quite match the new parts, so I'll have to get some more paint and paint them at some point.

I did decide to do a slight modification to the headlight bezels. I really didn't like the chrome, so I figured I'd paint them body color since I have an extra set anyway. So far I like the look of it.

Also got a new sticker put on the rear bumper (courtesy of my mother's cricuit machine). I know S3 isn't an official moniker, but figured I'd do something a little different.

You can tell I'm avoiding more sanding for now.

Oooohhhh...

You're going to do a Four-Wheel-Drive conversion?

That should be really cool.

Sorry, simply couldn't resist.

On a more serious note, it looks like it's coming along nicely.
I fully understand the need to get it driveable.

Sanding is right up there with trying on pants on the "worst tasks in the world" list.

Hood and fenders still need sanded and polished but apart from the emblem and washers on the hood everything is back on the car now.

The hood and tops of the fenders have been wetsanded. Still haven't gotten to the lower sections.

Eventually I'll have to get back and finish up wetsanding the side of the fenders, but for now the car is all back together and washed and waxed.

Pretty much anything is an improvement from how it looked the day I hauled it home.
