I might have a problem
So originally I had bought my two cars (86.5 and 84) to combine the good parts from them into one good car. After deciding that I was going to try and get a car fixed up for my parents too I started realizing that the 84 might be too much of a pain to get in driving condition. Mainly because it's missing some things like the throttle body, the instruments, fuel pump, alternator and has a completely trashed interior wiring harness.
After that realization I started looking for another car. I started looking for another car and found this one on craigslist. It's another auto 86.5 and it's in way better shape than my current 86.5. It's got a pretty good interior with nothing missing. Engine bay looks pretty good too. Looks like it was maintained and has some goodies like the all aluminum radiator.
So the new plan is get this blue one running and driving to keep me happy, then get the current 86.5 running and driving, then use some of the good interior and body parts from the 84 to make it nice.
Already made the deal, just gotta pick it up now. So in the past month or so I've gone from 0 to 3 928s.

It's a dangerous time out there now. Cars that somehow escaped the blight officer and subsequent trip to the junkyard a few years ago are sucking us in. They're stacking up around here too, and I'm not sure if we should celebrate or panic.

Yup. Sounds familiar. I bought an 89 last year for $700 no driveline from the engine back, no exhaust not even the manifold. All accessories up to the block were gone but it did have a good interior and valid ownership papers. This winter in the only snow storm Tokyo got I picked up what appeared to be tsunami write off car complete except for interior. I just finished stripping it and am trying to get the 89 to start.
Yup rebuilt TT, TB, WP, wiring harness repairs etc. I found another 928 a few years ago sitting at a body shop with the sunroof partially open and a deep dent at the right rear 1/4. The owner of the bodyshop has been ill, in and out of hospital so there is no decision on when the car will be available.
I wonder do other makers have the same amount of loyalty and almost addictive quality?

I think my first two cars fall into that category a bit. This blue one seems to be better though. The guy I'm buying it from bought it and then decided he didn't want to spend the time and money on the body and interior. Maybe my standards are just lower.
Either way I'm hoping this one is good mechanically and eventually I can make it look nice. It truly does appear to be complete though whereas my current 86.5 is missing exhaust parts and interior parts.
I didn't buy the thing expecting it to be perfect for dirt cheap though, I bought it as a project to keep me busy. For complicated reasons I can't work on fixing up my old Plymouth for the foreseeable future, so this is going to keep me off the streets so to say.
I'm much happier with the blue color than the tan. The tan one will probably end up painted green eventually according to my parents.

Captain,
A word of warning: I already had 3 928s before they started following me home in pairs. You started with 2 right off the bat. I rolled up to 7 in my driveway so quick that I couldn't figure out how it happened. I have had 8 of which 7 were put back on the road. The only one that didn't make back on the road sacrificed itself for parts so that others might live. I "only" have 4 now of which 1 is a "long-term project" that I just have had a really hard time getting back to, but it will happen.
I wish you good luck
