Default Crosspost -- a peitition for a very worthy man

I am not going to go into specifics of how I am related to this for the privacy of those involved, due to the fact this is a very public setting and anyone can read it...

But this man is good man, a warrior and a hero, and should be commended for what he did. Has anyone seen Rules of Engagement? James Webb was the secretary of the Navy and also my pastor's roommate at the Naval Academy and brother in law.

The situation with Lt. Col. Clark is similar to the first 15 mins of Rules of Engagement, except of course Lt. Col. Clark killed or injured no one.

Now, the Army (opportunist generals no doubt) are looking to hang this man out to dry for what he did to save the lives of his men. Even a simple dishonorable discharge is NOT in order -- he should not be punished but commended.

So, if you know about the situation and are in agreement that we should not let one of our soldiers doing a tough tough job, hang out to dry when what he did hurt no one, and was entirely appropriate given the circumstances, not to mention the fact what he did gained information that saved the lives of many of his men, men who without him would have left behind widows and orphans....

http://patriotpetitions.us/colwest

Sign that petition and help get Col. West a medal, not a dishonorable discharge.

In the words of an army soldier as said through Steve Harrigan on Fox, "I wouldn't have shot the gun near his head if by doing so would have saved the lives of some of my men. No, I wouldn't have done that. I would have blown his brains out."

Guys this is war and I would hope that ANYONE here given the exact same circumstances would do the exact same thing that Col. West did. We can't let outstanding soldiers like this be hung out to dry.

For the vets on this board, please respond to keep this bumped.

Thanks,
Matt

So basically he scared a captor into giving out vital life-saving information by shooting a gun inches from his head.

I just wanna get the story straight before I go signing my name away...

I'll add my support. I've done worse with no remorse or apologies. One thing that never changes in any war; the enemy's only task is to kill or maim you.

I think the good colonel was well within his rights to protect our men. This is not a case of a person being shot while trying to surrender. Does anybody really believe the enemy would have done less. Wake up people.
