Unhappy Mr. Regular doesn't like our cars

For those who don't know, Mr. Regular is one of the more popular Youtube car reviewers out there. I think he writes for Road & Track, too. He just reviewed a 944S and... well, see for yourselves.

Discuss.

Something tells me he didn't get to drive it aggressively on a twisty road. And maybe didn't get to rev it out through 3rd or 4th.

To each their own, though. I don't mind these cars staying affordable, and reviews such as this guy's won't be driving the price up.

I was laughing like an idiot in class while watching this.
I honestly think the gold car might has an ill suited transmission, I've heard of N/A's swapping turbo transmissions and putting your foot down becomes a leisurely cruise. I've never seen this "5000 rpm between gears" thing. But hey, Wikipedia boasts 220 kph top speed.

Yeah, those things are pretty heinous. Probably not doing it any favors when it comes to driving dynamics, huh? To each his own, I guess.

gearing difference with 951 trans in 944NA is hardly noticeable and most of the time "better" because you can stretch each gear out longer...

<--- has had a 951 trans in his NA since 2009 and loves doing over 70mph in 2nd gear when an NA is well into 3rd...

Not surprised - he loves economy cars and fart jokes.

hahaha, welcome to the 924 lounge.
Loads of simpletons complaining the 924 is slow...well waddya know time has come for the 944 to be considered slow.

Regardless, the video is junk, if its meant to be a car review its just an idiot complaining that the car dont go faster...it says nothing else.
The guy made a fool of himself if he self proclaims a car reviewer...concluding on a range of cars based on a drive into a modified car with wagon wheels sounds like what a simple person would do...not a car reviewer.
And whats with the try hard drama voice thing? its so repelling...tho i'm no 944 fan to be honest i still found the video as low quality.

That's kind of his shtick. It's a weird juxtaposition of uncomfortable humor and surprisingly poignant jabs at modern car culture. Regardless, the dude has hundreds of thousands of subscribers and definitely carries some influence.

I've never understood the hype behind that guy's channel. Just never found it entertaining, or the reviews to have any real substance. Just weird references that aren't even funny. Even if he had good things to say about the 944 it would still be worthless.

Maybe a 944 drove over his childhood dog.

I like about half his videos - he walks the line between unwatchable trash and brilliant car commentary. Sometimes he tries too hard and misses, other times it works. Where else could you watch a review on a PT Cruiser and be entertained?

This one is a miss.

Gearing on an N/A 3.889 down to 3.375? is a HUGE difference !

Slower acceleration isn't usually seen as "better" ?

A 2.5 N/A in third gear would be gone compared to one faffing in 2nd gear waiting for @ 70mph! I bet the 0 to 60 must be 8.5 seconds?

If I fitted the S2 / Turbo 3.889 FDR gearbox to my 2.7 it would kill it, it's totally off the mark and goes up the RPM quickly and is nice and short, it's probably maxxes out at 135mph.. Which is ideal for street or track..

The 3.375 would be ideal for the Le mans Mulsanne Straight!

The rims make all the difference. I'm sure if he drove one with Fuchs or any other normal, not 50lb a piece rims, it'd be a much more enjoyable drive.

That's the problem with reviewing modified cars, each one is going to be different.

I've never driven a 944S but I doubt the "Donk Edition" wheels help it wind up. I also wondered if this car had gotten a turbo trans somehow, or if it's got some crappy chip in it. It has an aftermarket exhaust.
