Well, it’s official. The car has been sold and will be moving on to its new owner this week. A great buyer in Louisiana purchased it for a bit of a father/son project to replace the 1967 Pontiac Catalina they had previously worked on together. The father has been teaching the son some new mechanical skills (he’ll be a senior in high school this year) and expressed interest in a more “modern” car. I love it - the 1986 Porsche 944 is a modern car based on what it is compared against.

I think this is the right buyer for this car and I’m excited to see what they do with it. Hopefully they’ll show up on RennList with their own project thread!

Sorry to hear that you sold the car. It was an incredible car and you put a lot of time and money into the car. The new owners definitely got a great car! Any plans for another 944?

I think I put too much money into it over the years, unfortunately. As they say - there's no such thing as a cheap Porsche. Perhaps some of that was my tendency to want everything to be as perfect as possible, even though it never could be without a full resto.

No plans for another 944 at this point. It was fun, but I always kind of wanted it to be something it was never going to be. If another one ever finds its way into my life, it will have to be an S2 or a 968. Right now the plan is to maintain the 1-car lifestyle with my MK7 GTI and then in a year or two move up to a MK8 GTI or Golf R.

The final few shots of the car before it makes its trip south to LA. It’s expected to arrive later this afternoon. It’s been real folks!
