So I got the COA from Porsche, and two things on had me wondering. First was that it was shown as delivered with Veith tires. The original and long flat tires on the car are Pirelli P6000's. Lady on the phone said cardex showed Veith tires. Is it possible they were changed at the dealership? I'll email the original owner to see if he recalls anything.
Second thing was that COA states that it was delivered without air compressor or tire gauge, both of which came with car. Tire gauge still with car, air compressor lost somewhere along the way. Window sticker states that an air compressor was supplied, as I would expect when the spare is a space-saver.
Any thoughts?
Thanks, Bill

After reading about others experiences with the factory COA I have my doubts about their accuracy. I have my window sticker so I never bothered to get one but would be interesting to see what it says. Nothing like being told by experts you don't have something when it's right in front of you

Original owner confirmed that car came with P6000's. I, too, have had some major inaccuracies on previous COA's, for example, my green '78 coupe reported as a black Targa. Some spelling errors as well.

Minor update--refreshed the throttle cable bracket. Before and after shots below.
Also, to pile on to the COA inaccuracies file, I just noticed that mine lists the production date as 8/7/83 when the car's sticker says 11/82 and the delivery papers were done early in '83. I sent an email to COA people and will wait to hear their reply.

Thx much, MGJ. Trying to convince my wife at this point.
Porsche rep sent an email on the COA discrepancies to tell me it was under review in Germany, so will await further decision.

Folks,
Been following this thread for a very long time and watched the sale of this car on BaT as well. Great story. Now it's my turn! Given the strong following of the beloved 944 that you all have, I thought you might be interested. My car is a 1985.5 with only 695 original miles. The back story on this car is very interesting. You can see the auction at http://bringatrailer.com/listing/1985-porsche-944-7/
Here are a couple of sneak peaks:
