Gonna have another go at the trans fluid this week, but for now, I spent the majority of my free time detailing the car even more. Had another round with Meguiar's Ultimate Polish, applied by hand, and finished off with Klasse Sealant Glaze. Needs some more touch-up here and there, but that red really pops now!
I can't wait to see the results in the morning under the sun!!

how often does the fluid need to be changed?

Depends on your usage. If you're running the car hard on the track, you should probably change it at least once a year, if not more. For normal use, once every 3 years or so is probably adequate. IIRC the spec in the owner's manual is 30,000 miles? Could be wrong on that, though, that's just going off the top of my head.

Trans Fluid Round 2
I got new plugs for the trans. And now that I'll be using an even longer torque wrench, hopefully I should be able to remove it this time!(I hope)

Plugs Loosened!! ^_^
Had my favorite local Porsche shop loosen the plugs for me. It was much easier with more than 4ft of space to stand underneath and a much hotter burning torch to get the fill plug out.
I'll be changing the fluid finally, tomorrow morning after Cars & Coffee.

Nice drive with the 944, Karl! Now I know what to expect when I finally get mine going! I didn't know that an acetylene torch was necessary to get the fill plug out. I tried with my propane torch and was unsuccessful. Looks as though mine will have to be drilled out before removal.

Trans fluids been finally changed!! I haven't had much time to break it in, but I'm not hearing any thuds into gear anymore.
The only way to know for sure is to see if it grinds shifting quicker into 2nd. Should be interesting.

After driving around with the new fluid the past few days, it really made the difference! No more grinding into 2nd whatsoever!! I have much more confidence in my shifts now and can enjoy driving spiritedly more than I have in the past!
If anyone's looking for a video on how to change the fluid, I made a POV video on how to do that!!

Overheating Problems(Again)
I've noticed this past weekend and now, the car is running much hotter than ever, in fact, it's touched the yellow box on the temp gauge many times, and even gone into it but never going all the way to the end.
There's still more than enough coolant in the car, I do have the later-style 6-blade fan, with only the driver side fan running because of the passenger side fan not running(I recall that being remedied with upgrading the fan relay?), and replaced the 25A fuse with a proper 16A fuse today. Sometimes it would take longer for the cooling fan to turn on than I'd like to, and it goes on and off intermittently, unless that's normal?
What else could have gone wrong? bad thermostat?

make sure you don't have air in the system, make sure temp gauge sensor is correct, if all is good then probably a thermostat.
My understanding with the fan is there are multiple speeds so if you car gets too hot both fans should kick on. Only one fan should be on during normal running and if using a/c I believe both cut on. Could be wrong here but I believe thats the operation.

My POV how-to video on my "success" in changing the thermofan switch:
This one had many mishaps, but I'm still a noob at this haha.
