Tach Problems
Tonight, I discovered my tach to be stuck at 2300rpm, and revving no higher than 3700rpm in neutral or while driving while the other gauges are functioning as normal. Fortunately, I've become accustomed enough to know where the car is idling and what rpm I'm driving at based on sounds, so I'm gonna remove the cluster tomorrow afternoon and see if there are any physical obstructions prohibiting a proper readout.

Physical obstructions are unlikely. Strangely enough, they are even more unlikely if this happened all of a sudden. We all like to guess what happens but I think your problem lies elsewhere. However, no matter; it's always best just to open her up and look at things firsthand. Make a list of other things you can do while your there, and you might find that you will have to search elsewhere for a solution. This is fun stuff for you, the guy who gets to figure it out.

Does it read 2300 even with the engine off? If the needle drops to zero when the engine is off, I would think that the tach head is OK. Problem is somewhere else..probably electrical.

911 envy be damned, I'm gonna see if I can move the tachometer to the center and move the speedometer to the right.

Tried it. lol I moved the Tachometer to the middle and it worked but there are a couple of issues. First, you have to deal with a very short speedometer cable that you will have to re-route to the far right (speedometer cable won't let you put the speedometer to the far left pod)
There is a stationary bracket behind the middle pod that makes moving things around difficult. When I installed it, the bracket caused seating issues with the Tach, mainly there wasn't enough clearance for the wiring harness. I've researched and a lot of guys cut the bracket but I abandoned the project because I had more important things to fix. I just installed it back the regular way
I did take it for a night drive with the tach in the middle and it was great. I loved it but the tach pod wasn't seated down all the way which drove me nuts.
