Default Por-Vettes - Ok I'm a believer now

Did a few laps in a beautiful professionally built 944 LS3 yesterday. Just simply amazing, now I understand the attraction! :

Yup, did two laps & got out, had way too much fun. Now I understand what has you HP junkies hooked. Coming out of turn one at Lil Talladega romped on the gas, thought it didn't handle very good as it was behaving like my old ski boat - turning right under full throttle. Realized I was spinning the rears at about 90 mph in 4th - that's with the big Hoosiers on the back. And, as much as it hurts as an old school P-car guy to admit there is something special about the sounds that great motor makes......gonna be hard to be happy with my lil motor, maybe time to go shopping

once you experience that kind of power...and get back into your 944...you will never be happy again...

coming off stoplights on hills and the 944 bogs down...youll start to look for V8 justifications...

My only salvation is mine is a dedicated Club Race Car and PCA doesn't allow foreign transplants!

My 944T > LS1 swap is in progress. Have the block, going to drop it off at the machine shop soon for a rebuild. Got ported/polished corvette heads ready to go on, etc, etc.

Can't. Friggin. Wait.

You guys are going to really like the results! Imagine what Porsche could have done with this platform if they really wanted to invest in it

the worst thing is when pull up to a stop light next to a Vette...

his car effortlessly pulls forward to 40, 45, 50 like a Maglev train....

and you have to rev it up to 4700 rpm through each of the gears making an *** out of yourself.

that's when the supercharger idea died once and for all.

nevermind even, that superchargers are the worst joke ever.

I've thought of it, and wondered why they didn't do more with the platform. It was such an amazing car, that if they bumped the HP too much, they would've destroyed the 911 for a fraction of the price. Now we're getting near super car performance from an 80's budget sports car, with a VERY reliable engine. Perfection, IMO.

I bought my 944 with a blown motor so the first time I drove it was with a V8. It pulls like a freight train. It makes the daily commute much more enjoyable.

i'm a long time Vette owner and i recently sold my Vette to help fund my new house purchase. i can say that i have always enjoyed the car and the engines have only gotten better over the years. i can imagine the power to weight ratio would make the car fly! my concern would be heavy weight bias at the front. i prefer to keep my cars original but i can understand the attraction.

That's the beauty of the conversion, the weight bias doesn't change much if at all. I read of one conversion that managed a 50.5/49.5 weight bias front/aft. Now if you're using an LT1 or an iron block LSx for your donor engine, then you can change the ratio more than the aluminum block LSx.
