yes.
https://rennlist.com/forums/924-931-...-possible.html
the thing is, these cars have a lot of agility, and that agility is optimized with the torque of a good V8.
no V6, flat 6 or 4 cylinder will do....
however - I love the giant Hummer 3.5~7 liter I-5. [which would require moving the throttle body from atop the intake].
and LOOK MOM ! NO F_CKING TIMING BELT!!
but it's another Ain't-German powerplant.

why? you can't move the throttle body and change to cable/manual.
fabbed intake? wouldn't be the first time.
at that point, any hood scoop would be minimal.

It fits without a hood scoop, just need to make a custom intake. On top that you can keep the vacuum booster unlike the V8 swap.
Check out the Volvo inline swap on 944Hybrids, ton of room.

or call it a 944 that doesn't totally **** the bed every 3~4 weeks?
Q: what's the most unpleasant thing going on with my 968?
A: the engine reminds me of a 944.
crusade my ***, there's almost no 944 owners from the last five years still posting on this forum.
they all got thrown out of their homes and died.
of what's left, the number of v8s divided by I-4s and the number of parted and junked vehicles
are the only numbers rising about the 944. the V8 isn't the alternative to the 944 engine....
and you can make a case for use of the word 'hot-rodded' to your heart's content.... but the truth is,
the V8 is the savior of the Porsche 944.

Its a 30 year old sports car, what do you expect.
It must die, since it has an expiry date like everything else. Shoehorning V8 in it is just ruining the concept.
Either have it as it is, or have a corvette, or mix the two together to whatever receipt suits you best, but don't preach about it in every damn thread.
When you put V8 in it it is no longer a porsche nor it is a corvette, it is your project car. This board is about 944/951 not your mixed bag car project that you didn't even start yet.
Why dont you go to GT3, CGT, and all the rest of the sections and shine a light to them too on the subject.
V8 is not a savior, it is an american engine that is in every american car. In europe though, we like f*ed up belt driven complicated unreliable designs and thats just how it is. (although you cant really complain when a car dies after 30 years)
Id rather throw everything in a trash than put a V8 in it. And I am not a big V8 in 944 hater, I actually respect the effort that goes in to these projects, the thing I hate is this preaching about how bad a design that likes to die after one third of a century is.

the name of this thread is Por-vettes....
did you forget the topic?
we talk V8 chevy 944s here with impunity and no holds barred.
oh, and you euro dudes think I'm bad now... just wait until the V8 goes in.
from day 1. the 944 had what imo could only be described as engine build quality about the same or slightly less
than the average VW product from about that time. had them, drove them, friends had them, drove them, was married
to them and had sex in them... and just like my Audi Fox, you couldn't kill them's old Wabbit's, Scirrocco's and Jettas.
just an opinion, of course..... and totally factual !
