I have no experience with swapping camshafts, but most people say that you will notice little to no difference in an NA application. I found the 944.105.155.09 camshaft difficult to find when I had to replace mine, so good luck sourcing one.

My theory has to be seen only in conjunction with the MAF-Kit + 4° camshaft key (adv.) on a early 944.
The MAF-Kit + 4° camshaft key (adv.) generates a big improvement in engine performance and driveability.
Joshua's 944 NA is an early 944 (like mine) with the camshaft that closes the exhaust 3° before TDC. The only difference between the early and the late camshafts are the exhaust timings. So with the 4° Camshaft Key (adv.) the exhaust should (I hope to understand this thing) close instead of 3° now close 7° before TDC. So I assume, if you swapped for a late camshaft that closes the exhaust 4° later you could or rather should gain some extra hp at the upper revs. Provided you have an early 944 + 4° key (adv.) installed.
So far my theory.
But to make the whole thing complete, I ordered a coated MSDS header and I will give a late Camshaft in my early 944 a try.

But now I'm glad to know, that a late cam is better than nothing.
Thank you Joshua!

Back to California Smog legality , It would be easy to swap the stock parts for testing but how about that offset key, will that affect smog?
Thanks
Thanks

My kit arrived this weekend, and I installed it Saturday.
Made a significant difference. The idle is much smoother, and acceleration seems peppier, even in 5th.
I also have the 4 degree offset key, but have not installed yet. I needed to get the car on the road, so I can work on my daily driver.
Very happy, worth the price, and the wait.
Great job Joshua!

Gad to hear you got the kit installed, and are happy with it!
The cam-key will make another good jump in hp/tq. The two (MAF & cam-key) really transform the cars power delivery.
