Agreed that measurement is better than guesswork... which is why I'm doing all the dyno-quantifications!
The 944S used pretty much the same size throttlebody, and at >30hp more than the 944NA, so I think the majority of the gain there is simple from the better head-flow. Yes, the DOHC has a better combustion chamber and higher CR - but, I bet the real hp increase came from head-flow.
So, trying out a more aggressive camshaft will hopefully bring good results! We will see.
What I'm trying to do is keep with fairly simple bolt-on modifications that don't require any/minimum fabrication.
After the camshaft, I will probably test out the 951 intake, throttle-body, & S2 airbox setup.
What does everyone think about a true equal-length header?
How about a milled cylinder head (to raise compression)?

I have some funky headers I'm wanting to try out on my car. Not equal length, but longer primaries than stock by a good margin. Don't have any idea who made them but they look cool. If you want to give them a shot I could loan them to you...

Iirc 'tri-Y' headers are meant for bottom end torque and power (up to 6k rpm or so), equal length are better suited for higher rpm power at the expense of bottom end power and driveablity.

Just an observation, I can measure and post the differences later but early and late mid pipes have a different length Y in the mid pipe. Early cars are shorter by... Six inches or so (initial guess).
The cam will be cool for comparison and a shaved head will provide a good chunk of information for those of us that will need to do head gaskets later on down the road. How far are you thinking of shaving the head? 11:1 or more? How far car a na head be shaved realistically?

4• offset key
Don't mean to hyjack thread, figured someone reading this thread would be interested.......
I ordered 2 offset keys from 928 motor sports this morning and requested both of them to be 8 valve (early) at 4 degrees. Just like Josh suggested.
If you would like the 'spare' and have $21 laying around send me a PM.

And these threads/people are the reason that I don't post much on Pelican:

It seems that no matter how good my intentions, I always get my head bit-off on that forum...

Is it any wonder that all the best product development for our cars happens over here.
Keep up the good work!

People never seize to amaze me. I think you did a good job on putting a true NA Maf together. Most people with an N/A don't want to spend $500 on something unless it gives a huge gain. That is part of the reason for supercharger kits not doing well even budget kits will fail.
If I still had my 924S I would think about doing this upgrade. I look forward to getting one of your kits for my 951. No one realizes how much time is spent getting this all programed and bugs worked out. If they knew they they could see why the price tag is $500.

i'm mad924 on pp. fwayfarer is star poster on that forum. never seen anyone quite like him. mike is usually a stand up guy, not sure why hes getting so bent up. forums arent the perfect platform to straighten out misunderstandings though.
