Default pulled air bag light today

im gonna be installing a 968 cs steering wheel ,so i took the advice of a few rennlisters and pulled the inst . panel ( did the much needed optical upgrade kit from 944online) and took out the air bag light bulb. tried it out , allgood. and BIG improvement on lighting , well worth it!
WILL MY FUEL SHUTOFF STILL BE ACTIVE? the other way is to snip wires #5and#7 from air bag computer. did not go that route.
also my new horn contact part# 928-652-104-00 is coming ( I was told clock spring delete) ...my concern is the face plate on the combo switch...will I have to modify it to accept different horn contact.... Thanks guys

You do not have to cut any wires to bypass the airbag controller. If you jumper pins 3 and 4, the fuel pump will run (on the car side of the harness at the airbag controller).

hmmm, maybe this is why my car won't start with out jumping the fuel pump by removing the DME relay. I thought I was having alarm problems, but maybe it's the airbag computer. I just recently took the computer out, and that's when i started having the problems....

Sorry for hijacking your thread... as for your wheel install, I just got a non airbag turn signal module and it worked fine. One that looks like this

Can't understand why you guy have so much trouble installing a SC wheel on your 968.Beside the 2 hrs waiting time to( safely) disable the air bag it's an 1 1/2hrs DIY job ,no need for a none air bag turn signal ,no need to remove to remove the air bag ligth (just fool ) the air bag ligth with a 2 ohm resistor. The crescent shape (Brass) horn contact do come with all the accessories to install yout CS & there only on wire going to the horn.Once the resistor is intall you don't leave it inside the wheel ,the proper way is to shove it underneath the dash cover it with a rubber cap to make sure it's secure and tie-wrap it somewhere.Second pic & the six one is out of a 951 but will be the same for the 968.Iclude are the tool needed to do the job .

my combo switch doesnt have that brass L shaped thing on the right.
I got it all apart just fine ... waiting on parts to finish ...just wanted some affirmation that pulling the air bag warning light is a legitimate option . I wanted to pull the inst. cluster to upgrade the optical tunnels and go to LEDs anyway , SO NO PROBLEMO there
1990 944 s2 now air bag delete

Understand what your saying but why remove the air bag ligth when all you have to do is fool with with the resister, & don't know who you got your CS from but the L shape horn contact should have been supply with your wheel, got mine from (Sunset Porsche & never look back). One thing I'm sure off is you won't regret buying that CS one of the best upgrade on a 968.Hope everthing goes well finishing your little project & take care.Should look like this when install.

Sorry never seen your second reply ,but now that the air bag ligth is out I don't really know if you should install the resistor but if I was you I will. One thing, resistor or not install make sure the the connection is properly tape & fasten underneath the dash -not in the wheel since there still power coming througt that connection.

Are you sure the controllers are bad? How did you reset them after install. From what I remember the 91 or later unit requires the Hammer tool or Durametric software to reset. I used the Durametric when I installed my swapped one. Also the Durametric software will enable you to see the error codes the unit is throwing.

Airbag charge is gone inside of 10 minutes. No need to wait 2 hours to remove the airbag. That contact switch is from a 928. I added oe to both my 951's with momo wheels to get the horn to work.

mhr___ is more qualify to answer that question that I am since he does own a S2 cab & does most DIY work on it ,just want to ask you, are you reinstalling the OE air bag wheel back or an after market one such as CS or a MOMO,if so you will need the resistor install as shown in order to fool the the air bag ligth in beleiving that it's still install. LOl beat removing the cluster to take out the air bag bulbe like suggested by some on this forum unless you have to do some other work inside the cluster.
