Default Throwing in the towel, I need help...or a buyer

I'll make a long story short, what was supposed to be a simple timing belt and water pump replacement has turned into a 2 month long nightmare. I have completely torn down and rebuilt the entire front end of the engine 5 times as of today. This is not a joke, I've torn the car front of the engine down to nothing completely 5 times. I've replaced both the balance shaft seals and o-rings and my engine is still losing oil at the rate of 1 quart every 7 minute....yes 7 minutes. I've replaced absolutly everything on the front of the engine, even bolts for crying out loud. I cannot make this car stop leaking oil excessively (yes it's coming from the front of the engine not the pan or rear of the engine) and making terrible whining noises from the belts (I've adjust them almost a hundered times now, they are all in proper tension I've tried a little extra tight and a little extra loose, nothing solves it). I've spent probably 100 hours in the past 2 months trying to do this and I can't make it work no matter what I try or how many times I replace things or how many different ways I try to fix it. Is there some magical secret to this? I do I just really not belong around a Porsche. I'm so frusterated to the point I want to sell the car even though I'll probably take about a $5000 loss, I just can't take it anymore.

I have heard of belts whining when set correctly. It might just need to be worked in. As far as the oil leak, there has got to be an obvious leak somewhere. Have you run the car with the TB front cover off for a better veiw? Also have you checked the oil pressure sensor switch to make sure it did not get broke during the repairs. If you drove the car and it did not leak before the repair it should not leak now unless you hit something while working on it. The pan could get cracked if jacked on but it sounds like you checked the pan already. I would suggest run the car again and ask a friend to come over and help you look.

I have the car in a full shop at my school, even my teacher who has been in the business for 50 years can't figure out why this is happening. It just keeps leaking from the balance shaft seals no matter how many times I replace them with the correct OEM parts. I use proper torque specs and everything I've done everything exactly by the book and when that didn't work tried my own method and that didn't work and when I went back to the book it STILL didn't work....

Could the seal housing be damaged?

Again I doubt it, I used all the proper tools and went exactly by the book when I installed the new seal and o-ring. I cleaned everything very well with the proper chemicals and I torqued all the bolts off to their spec. I seriously have dont everything 100% right all 5 times yet the car is still having a mess of problems. It's like it wants to kill itself or something. I just don't understand. I really think my best bet is to get out now because I'm going to spend more money on this car then it will ever be worth even another 25 years from now.

Are you sure that you have the correct seals? Did you remember the little mylar seals?

Yes I did, everything I took off I replaced and I know I had all the right parts I double checked every part number and everything which is why I'm so baffled. After 5 times there is no possible way I missed anything. I think I'll just sell it and get out while I can.

Just do a balance shaft delete. Headache gone Haha. Sounds like the casing is warped I would try replacing it. Other than that I couldn't tell you either

And don't sell it!

Got any pictures of the leaking area so we can get a visual of where it is coming from? Did you replace the balance shaft races that the seals ride on? That little groove on the old ones can let plenty of oil out.

And the top and bottom balance shaft seals are different sizes too. Have those in the correct positions?

Yes, as I've said I am 110% positive I've done this all correctly, after 5 times it's not done wrong. I wish it was, but it's not. I'm going to think about selling it over the weekend and decide on Monday.

Agreed. There has got to be something we are missing.

Pictures would be great.
