I am actually outside today (60*)![jumper](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/jumper.gif)
Pulled out the 944 AC comp from the scrap pile....
Not only will it be too close to the engine set back plate on the passenger side, but there is a friggin 8-groove pulley on it (85.5 anyways). The GM AC drive is 4-groove on the crank pulley. Also I think Greg's right that the GM compressor would be an upgrade and would flow more and cool better....
I also did check and the 944 compressor would fit without hitting the passenger frame rail if a custom bracket were made and incorporated the 944 heim link tensioner thingy.....FYI

the 85.5 and later ac should have a 6-rib pulley on it, if it has an 8-rib i will take it off your hands.
82-85 had a 5-rib.
regardless though you can swap pulleys on ac compressors.

I just looked at mine at I was removing the brake booster and counted the ribs and looked at my new motor and came to the same conclusion. Looks like new lines are in order. I need to get all that lined up before the motor goes in.

I have this swap done, it is not too bad of a drive, the problem I have is that I still am running a n/a trans.
I am currently trying to find a second gen to upgrade my 1/1985 from that the LS1 sits in, so I have a better suspension under it and I also am hunting down a turbo lsd tans to spread out the gears.
It is a sweet car though. No big complants,

I am not sure what rpms you sit at, my tach is not hooked up yet.
I know the turbo trans has better gearing so you sit lower at highway speeds.
if you swap a ealry fifth gear from an n/a trans into the turbo trans you increase your top from 150mph (stock turbo trans) to 180mph(early 5th)
making the highway rpm alot better.
