Was that clear at all?

But I see where you are getting at.
Here is where the 4.8/5.3/6.0 Truck Pulley outshines the expensive Vette pulley accessories in the fact that it allows the AC compressor to sit 2.25" further forward than the Vette pulley would allow it. It would have to go on the lower passenger side of the block due to the fact that the steering rack boss would hit the rear of the compressor on the driver's side.

What does the 944 AC bracket look like from the factory?

Default You are right

It would be easier just to run the lines to the other side and use the normal placement of the AC on the LS motor. I did find a mount by Kwik performance products that had a high mount alternator mount if anyone needs something like that. I don't know if it fits under the hood but they provide measurements.

Default That is inexpesive.

I was going to get a 5.3 but I found a good deal on a LS1. That compressor looks like it fits where the Porsche one did, that would be perfect for not having to re run the lines. Thanks.

The GM AC compressor is a far better choice for the swap. Major reason they are built for more volume because of 134a. Seconday being Rickanomics. Much less money.

OK...with te experts on the page, how difficult would it be to fit a 5.7 or 5.9l hemi in lieu of the LS motors?

Or should I abandon all hope

Of course it will fit! Its all about time, money andhow much you want to butch your strut towers!

I actually have a 6.1 settin in the shop right now out of a Charger for a Ram 1500 Sport SRT8 project. I can get some measurments. I have it on good authority the 6.1 will fit in a 928!

The reason I ask is that I am MOPAR guy, so no knock on the LS motors, but if to go through all the effort of a swap I would prefer to have another Hemi in the stable.

Plus I happen to have access to a 13k mile spare......

I've seen pictures of a Ford 4.6 32 valve DOHC engine in a 944. I've haven't looked for any build pictures, but that's a fairly large engine, if it fits without cutting the towers there's hope for your Hemi.

To date, no one has done a Mopar. You could be the first...

I've seen pictures of a Ford 4.6 32 valve DOHC engine in a 944.
MatthewB from PorscheHybrids.com did the 4.6L DOHC swap...
The 4.6L Ford is nice and wide, but fits in a 944. Also, if a 502 BB will fit under the hood (no sheet metal work) in a 928, a "Gremlin" can be squeaked into a 944. That 6.1 can't be that much wider, and I doubt the deck is any taller...

But, I'm not looking at it presently, either.

Machined intake, carbureted, and F A S T.

Tim,
To quote Justin, (referring to the GTO engine)...

"Are you sure this engine wasn't designed for a 944?"

Accessories placement should be correct for the GTO setup.

Thanks for the info. In goes a Porsche pump. I just can't see thundering around turn 8 at Mosport and finding the steering just got heavy going into #9 at a 100mph.
