Gave the 931 a bit of a panel gap treatment as it was poking me in the eye to see the front fenders, hood and headlight covers out of position.
While there, i checked the lights and one of the foglights wasnt working. Turned out to be a dead bulb.
Did nothing else today than tinker on the 931 and drive it.

She's been sitting around for a while so have been trying to take her out after dinner for short little runs through the city for the last week. Finally got off my *** and attended Bob's Breakfast Club that our local PCA region hosts every other Saturday this morning. Up at 5 AM sort of drive but always worth it, great event. This was only about half of the group from this morning (which was smaller than usual). Midnight Blue Metallic 964 RS on beside me!!

Unloaded it from the trailer and let it take its first steps on its new home turf.
[Haven't yet decided if it's a 'he' or 'she'... I guess that will depend on how much trouble it gives me ]
Bonded over scaring the crap out of the wife together on her first joyride with us.

Finished major surgery on my 84: Installed newly rebuilt fuel tank, CV Axles and basically all new fuel lines and hardware. The job should have taken me about a week, however; the crazy hot summer extended the timeline to exactly 2 months. I gave a thorough run this evening with no issues. In fact, the new tranny mounts made a world of improved difference when shifting.

Surprise back to back breakfast club meeting. Normally every other weekend so small turn out but not complaining. Brought some friends and finally got to test out my new rebound settings. Car is just even more unbelievable in the handling department on the road now.. So so happy with it.

Went on a nice sunset drive, then ran a compression test on the warm engine when I got back. Got measurements of 170, 165, 162, and 164 PSI, respectively, which was a lot better than I was expecting. Maybe I'll hang onto it a while longer after all.

Changed the coolant so I could put a new lower rad hose on the car.
Re-fitted the stock 944 fans for the first time since probably 2012?
And went for a hard drive...

Replaced both output shaft seals on the replacement transaxle, then installed an Only944 shift linkage and short shift kit. Going to do the input shaft seal this evening, and depending on how much time I have to work with, might go completely nuts and do the transaxle swap tonight... Really itching to get this done- you can really only drive with a crunchy third gear for so long before it gets to you...

Did it! Transaxle swap complete!

Took me about 2.5 hours to drop the old one, half an hour to fill the new one and transfer the mounts, then maybe another 3 to install. All in all, absolutely a success- the SSK and linkage are fantastic, 3rd gear shifts smoothly, and less whining on deceleration than before!

The only downside is that I was able to absolutely confirm that the play in the drivetrain is coming from a dead rubber-centered clutch. I strongly suspected as such, but the confirmation means I can't keep pretending like it's not actually an issue.

Put a pair of the Hella H4 conversion kit headlights on my 944NA. WOW! What a difference, and a very affordable upgrade at around $100 for the pair vs $350-$400 each for old school H4s. Also replaced a bad fog bulb. Let there be light!

Replaced all of the burnt out taillights. Bought bulbs for the extra socket that allows for the extra rear fog lights and noticed that one side, although without a bulb, was already wired up but the passenger side was not. Guessing it's another one of those frustrating Japanese lighting laws again.. Anyways gonna buy the adapter kit tonight and hopefully hook it up the passenger side soon.
