Um... that might be your problem right there. You need to bleed it after you refill it lol. You want the front elevated on ramps/stands/jack and you need to have the heater going on full. New cap is the go btw

Haha alright. Thanks for the clarification. New cap, refill the tank and bleed it AFTER. Got it.

after I cleaned and painted the battery box, let it dry. put my battery back in, checked all fluids.
ready to start her up. and guess what? she does not start.
cranks and cranks. and it smells like gas.
to be honest , im quite annoyed and disappointed.
I dont get it. when I took her off the road in late November , she was working great.

well i thought it was bad gas.
got some starting fluid, disconnected the hose next to the maf , sprayed it, it starts and dies.
so, I ended up draining most of the tank, topped it off with 50 litres of 94 octane gas, added 3/4 a can of seafoam. and kept trying to start it, starts and dies, starts and dies.
after many cycles like that, i realized, maybe it needs to be connected to the maf to run. so i sprayed in the fluid, re connected the maf, then started it. and voila.
she is back alive.
$6 can of starting fluid, over $50 in gas,
hearing my 944 come to life again after 5 months, priceless.

Fixed my wiper motor problem: Nut holding on linkage loosened and went MIA. Replaced with another and scuffed up my arm pretty badly in the process.
Installed new clear plastic trim around the heater control module. Tip: When replacing, use some jewelers files to cut out the plastic that is supposed to be behind the switches. You cannot just slide it on. (Pm for pics)
Installed LED light in dome lamp... subsequently broke dome lamp.
Installed correct hatch shocks to correct non-working dome lamp with doors/hatch open. As soon as one shock was in :POP!!!: Hatch glass separated from the frame all across the top. Sucks.
Doing my rotors and pads on Monday along with fuel sending unit replacement. I'll be making videos of this and putting them on youtube in case others may be curious.

took the car for a drive!
after working on this 944S for almost 2 months, the initial fix and refresh work is done. drove fantastic, tight and rattle free. engine runs smooth and revs with vigor. trans smooth and clutch feels strong. as my bro-in-law, who bought the car from me, was driving it away, not sure which of us had the bigger grin. he is 75 yrs old and acting like a kid with a new toy.
still need to do a few minor things before I drag in the 86 944 turbo and get busy finishing up the engine installations.

Drove the crap out of my car to try and get rid of the stale-ish gas in it.
Drained and filled the power steering fluid. Feels firmer and tighter than before.
Swapped the hatch and cab dome lamps so I had a working lamp up front. Repaired the driver door switch so the lamp worked 100% of the time.
Sunroof prop jammed in the upper position while on the highway. Fixed it the RIGHT way this time.
Installed KLA subwoofer box and driver. TIP: quarter panel carpet must be detached and moved all the way out of the way to install the box. Other than that, it's simple to "install" and fits snugly into the well.
In 5mins I'm going to order a wiring harness from crutchfield and speakers to prepare to update my stereo system.

Headers mounted
Clutch slave put on
Fuel lines assembled
Throttle cable/assembly modified and installed
Wiring ran through the firewall
99% of engine wired up...still need to put on elbow/maf/filter and connect wires.
Gauge cluster taken apart to get tach out, have to modify it for v8 signal
Still have to: splice harness into factory wiring/wrap harness
Modify tach
mount radiator/fan and hook those up
Install 1 new brake line
New brake fluid/bleed brakes and clutch
Put trans back in
Still waiting on y pipe, then fab rear exhaust section
Top off with fluids
CRANK IT UP
So much stuff to do involving a swap...crazy

Last weekend I did some steering work on the 951. Replacing the pressure side power steering hose, steering rack bushings, tie rod ends. And this weekend I took it over to the tie shop to get the wheels all pointed in the right direction. I would say it drives like new, but with the 450 lb springs and 30 mm torsion bars it is much stiffer than new, but I am really pleased to have a 951 that goes where I point it, the tie rods / steering rack bushings added a lot to the feedback from the front tires.
Still tons of work to do on the 951, but progressing nicely. To slow the progress a bit I picked up a 928S to keep the 951 company in the garage:
