We just completed a weekend "banzai run" up to Maine and back. This is the GPS readout of the trip although I didn't start it until 2 hours and 100 miles in so be sure to add that!

The car handled it just fine although it has been a while since I spent any time above 70 mph in it. As such, I realize that my rear wheels need some rebalancin'. Sometimes, they harmonically cancelled each other out but when they got lined up to work together, they did a wonderful job of amplifying the vibration!

And, of course, the obligatory pic of the car/wifey at a beach up there...

Replaced my oil cooler ... That was fun. Still working on flushing out all of the slime.

While I was under the car, I found a bad control arm bushing. So, I know what my next task is.

I see a rather distinct lack of max speed listed there, BB.

My task for today is stripping the accessories off the engine while I wait for a friend to get here with a rattle gun to remove the flywheel.

May not sound like much of a project, but I've been listening to audio books while on my daily round trip 200km commute, and my phone just sits on the armrest. I got tired of making sure it didn't slide away into oblivion when cornering, so I found a nice vent mount kit. It seems secure enough, yet adjustable enough. So far so good. I have it mounted on the non adjustable vent louvers (85.5+ style dash)
I liked Andy's ash tray conversion, but my Galaxy S II is way too big to fit there.
Ok back to my book, it is just getting interesting.

Finally took it for a road test, the first time I have driven it further than from one end of the driveway to the other (I bought it out of Province so have to have an inspection done before the licensing is complete - and decided to change the 10 year old belts before doing that). Almost everything works so I am optimistic for the inspection after correcting the small problems that I have seen.
Sure drives differently from my Miata...

----------
'87 924S - new belts, new engine mounts... next projet (after the inspection)... the clutch.

On my way to Porsches 2 Ohio earlier this summer, I spent most of the trip above 90 mph. The car handled it with aplomb. These little cars are quite comfortable cruising on the highway at extra legal speed. (The same could not be said of my Audi S6. 70 miles per hour is over 3000 rpm, and well into boost.)

Began stage 2 of my stereo project. I bought some 10 speaker door trim bits off Tyler (sirlapsalot) so I could add a midbass driver to each door. Today I changed them from Blue and Tan to Black

Well no fun update here. Picked up a piece of metal in my rear tire, that the tire shop says they can't repair it because it is too close to the sidewall...Tires have 15K on them...AND out of production..AND I had to get to work today. Doh! Its a few weeks early, but I was forced to pull out the snow tires and put them on the car last night. At least the phone dials for these tires are in awsome condition, so the car looks great even with the snows.
I've already been searching and have found a couple of leads on NOS tires the same model/size as the rest of my summer set, so it isn't all bad news.
BRING ON THE SNOW!
