Wasn't sure when I got the car if the oil pan gasket or the RMS (or both) were hard and leaking and since I've been on a program to replace all the rubber seals in the car, the oil pan gasket slowed but didn't stop the leak from the hard to diagnose area between the clutch and oil pan area. So now, after pulling out the flywheel and with the aid of flourescent dye, I've confirmed that definitely, the RMS was really screwed. Also found the car had a rubber clutch which I'm replacing with a conventional Sachs package. Got the RMS, clutch, and all new bolts installed and putting the bellhousing in tomorrow and reinstalling the drive-line, unfortunately, by myself.

Put her on Kijiji to sell... worst thing I've ever done to her... maybe I'll have another, one day... Something about life and the way it screws with you... Maybe I'll put her on this site too, make the membership pay... sad day.

I went down to local auto store and picked up a few cleaning products, and applicators. I treated all the leather and vinyl with some Zymol treatment. I then polished the rims and applied some tyre gel. I then applied some Zymol field glaze to the paint and did rear spoiler with some Mother's naturally black. She is looking fantastic

Replaced the control arms with some of the High Strung units. New camber plates and new semi solid motor mounts.

OK, hope to post something more appropriate in the future, but today:
I covered my 944 in grinder dust while working on the sheet metal intake for my turbo motorcycle project.

Greetings. Earlier this week, I finally picked up another 944 after about a 10 year hiatus.
It was too cold to do much work on it outside (can't get it in the garage until next week) so I popped off the steering wheel and brought it inside to redo the stitching that had come off. I couldn't find waxed thread, so I just bought the heaviest thread from the fabric store, and rubbed it down with snowboard wax (what I had laying around). It took over 3 hours, but I'm very pleased with the result:

Started it for the first time in 6+ months so I could swap storage spots and have it in my garage to hopefully fix.

Because you don't know what you are doing. Really and I am not being mean. I am being perfectly honest. Every job takes my 3 times as long when I either forget how to do it or have to learn it along the way. I did suspension work on my BMW street car and it took forever since I did not know what I was doing. Despite having step by step instructions and photos. I would bet that next time you do this job it will be so much easier. How long does it take to pull a head on a 944 non turbo? 2hrs... If you know what you are doing.

Plus dealing with old rusted and corroded bolts is a pain. I put new control arm to crossmember bushings on my 944 turbo a few weeks back and it took me about 2.5 hrs to do the job including clean up time after and getting my jack and jackstands out. If you have seen my garage you will notice it takes 30 mintues to get set up and another 30-40 mintues clean and pack away all my tools.

Point is the jobs that are fast are the ones you know well. If you have to do any Figuring it out when are doing a job it will take time. Lots of time.

Today my Turbo Turned over 146k miles on the way to work. My 944 spec sits in the garage headless following my missed shift at the track last weekend (6000 rpm in 3rd and went to 2nd instead of 4th - 8800 rpm). Bent 2 valves for sure, probaby the other 2 intake as well and desipte no visible signs I am guess in all 4 exhaust as well. Oh well my replacement head should ship today.
