Oops...how embarrassing...good catch, reclaimer..., and welcome, btw...no, the valve cover isn't backwards...the HEAD is!!! (It was around midnight or so when I did this, and the VR block doesn't have any locating pins to help orient it---and I forgot the timing chain well should be located to the rear. DOH!!!) Actually, though, in this case, it's good news, because it means I have more clearance than I thought...be right back with pics...and a very red face...

Okay, here are the corrected pics...nothing like a public faux pas to remind you of your own fallibility.
The last pic is from the front of the valve cover to the actual rear of the head/cam/valve cover...the proper orientation of the valve cover/head actually fits better. I will need to reroute the A/C lines somewhat, as well as some of the brake lines. In case some of you are wondering why I haven't just removed everything from the engine compartment, it's so I could find potential issues like the A/C line interference. Once the actual build begins in earnest, the entire car will be stripped to its bare bones.
Hmmm...Maybe I'll call the car C3PO...as a reference to the scene from the Star Wars movie where Chewbacca puts 3PO's head on backwards after 3PO gets disassembled. You guys can just call me Chewie from now on.

At the risk of getting flamed, I daresay it does!! (hands V2 a package of asbestos longjohns)
As far as I know, 333, several are in the works, but none are yet commercially available. My original plan was to fabricate a shallow pan with a deep well for the oil pickup, a la the original 944 pan, using a modified pickup tube, and an external oil cooler for extra capacity. The crank drops down below the block skirt perhaps an inch and a half, possibly less.

This is kind of academic, and I know you discussed weights earlier, but how does a finished VR6 compare in weight to the perennial swap candidate, the Chevy LS V8?
Also, Vonov, what are you plans for the car, apart from the engine?
Keep up the excellent work!

"Repaint, repaint, and thin no more..."
(Sorry, couldn't resist, lol...)
I plan on repainting the car in solid single-stage white, FatMat the interior, refurbish the interior, using Alcantara fabric to recover dash and door panels, go through the suspension/brakes, refinish/polish the Fuchs wheels, an occasional autocross, with one trip to the Texas Mile or Maxton...and it will be my DD.
Weight...probably comparable, or very slightly heavier, once the turbo and intercoolers are added. We do not plan on using the standard VR6 intake, and the plumbing for the turbo should be very minimal, compared to the standard 951 setup, which is fairly busy.
