Default Highest Horsepower 944?

One of my partners for my senior project claims a guy he works with has one of the highest horsepower 944s out there. I don't know many details, I'm pretty sure its forced induction, but based off the stock engine of the car. I don't know if its the 2.5 or 2.7L, or if it started life as a turbo or NA block. The claim is well in excess of 500 horsepower, and i've heard 700 at least once. My question is if anyone has heard of this car, or if the owner is on the forum. I'm honestly curious about the setup.

and anyone thinking about blabbing the "you can't turbo an NA" or "these engines can't make that kind of power" Mantra, go sit over there ---------------->
We've all heard it, don't need to hear it again. I'm just curious if anyone's heard of this car while i wait for more details.

700 is a little high, some of these cars have big money in their motors and are running home brew fuel to hit their numbers...

I would tell them to put up or shut up...

Yeah, well I wanna see solid numbers. Some of the 3 liter block guys are putting down serious Chuck Norris numbers.

I'm just waiting for Alina.

A friend and I were pipedreaming about building a 3.0L NA autocross/DE car. Maybe it would put down 185hp. With some tuning and simple mods, it might get to 200?

As far as Turbo cars are concerned, see the thread posted that JohnKoaWood posted about the Top 10 TQ & HP. So far a guy named Special Tool has the higest 951 (2.5L) on the Rennlist forums so far, hitting the 602 RWHP mark, insane to say the least. That's at the rear wheels and over 700 BHP at the crank. Here is the thread in which he posted the dyno and hit that number. Also, there is currently a listing of 3.0L turbo now in the 944 Turbo section.

South of Boston, near Needham. And no car now, as it is being built. If you read under my signature, you can see my home page and the complete build of the car. If you guys ever have a GTG though, give me a shout or a PM.

And look at the New England section of Rennlist too. Local people would come but probably not with 944s. Anyway, back to this thread. I gave you guys tons of good links with high RWHP cars.

The project went into standby this past summer when i just plain didn't have time to work on it due to my 45mile each way commute, which turned work into an 11 hour a day event. Stayed that way due to school and a lack of funds. It is getting revived this summer when when i graduate and start a real job. Should enter a body shop in June/July and emerge a beautiful thing. Engine will be running before the end of may.

I'm moving up to Nashua for my job, but i'll be sure to come make a few drives with you guys this summer.

3rd party power claims are always fun. Few years ago I was at a party, found myself in a car conversation (usually I avoid these when away from the usual car crowd). Before I knew it someone spouted off I am a "Porsche guy".
Somone I never met before said started telling me about this awesome turbocharged 928 race car his buddy has, fastest car in town etc...... Before long I realized he was talking about the 79 I purchased a few weeks prior - a bone stock 79 with headers and open / variable exhaust. Even after I told him I bought the car, he kept insisting it was tuborcharged and I needed to learn more about the car.

I realize anyone can claim power, i was curious if someone had heard of this car to back up the claims. I'm trying to get more details directly, but my friend keeps forgetting to ask him the few times their shifts overlap.

When there are discussions of how much power a car makes or their buddies car makes x horsepower (i.e. bench racing)...i think of the typical argument among scholarly writers...my PEN IS bigger than yours.
