Angry Messed up Fuel lines? Braided Fuel lines?

While removing my injectors last night for the first time, I think I may have messed up one of the fuel lines. It isn't the fuel feed or return line, but I'm not sure exactly what it's for. I was reading the procedure that says to "clamp the fuel feed and return lines". I thought this was one of them, and clamped it The hose is very dried out and developed tons of small cracks. After I unclamped it, the hose looked "wet", and I definitely smelled fuel, so it's messed up.

Now for my questions:

- The fuel feed and return lines are the ones that go to the two "bellows/regulator units", right?

- How is the hose I messed up used in conjunction with the fuel pressure?

- Can I change all three hoses for braided fuel lines?

- Where can I buy braided fuel lines from?

- How much can I expect to pay?

Thanks!

me again,
The braided lines you can get from speedforceracing.com for $80 or you can get the raw materials, including fire sleeves from www.paragonperformance.com

that small line, I am not sure what it's for but I am gonna replace mine when I get my fuel lines. Anyone have a p/n for this, I didn't see it on the PETCD?

Someone posted that it was 60 at the local counter, maybe cheaper at sunsetporsche.com if you end up ordering other stuff and they can figure out which part it is.

The two bigger lines were the ones that needed to be clamped.

$60??? I might have known. Every time I work on a car I break something. My father in Law calls me "Torque" - no prizes for guessing why.

Hey all!

Whoah! Hang on...

This item (this hose) is part of a recall. Call your local dealership and give them your VIN number and ask of the part has been replaced under warrenty! It's the fuel rail recall - don't remember the number....

If it hasn't - then you could get the free conversion.

HTH!

If you look at the hose, the part number is stamped on it.

Try this:

PCNA: 800-545-8039
NHTSA Campaign ID: 90V061000

Too bad I didn't find this out until AFTER I dished out the $60!!!

GREAT!!! Except my hose has already hardened and cracked, so hopefully I can take it in and exchange it? I'm definitely not going to drive it like that!

As far as length of time on recalls go, especially if it's a safety hazard, I don't see why they wouldn't apply for the life of the car!

you can call that pcna #, or go to your dealers parts counter and give them your vin to see if the campaign was carried out on your car in the past or not. It likely was (guessing), and you will need to buy a new hose anyway. 13 year old rubber will crack even if it was the replaced good hose I bet.

other models can go to www.nhtsa.gov to search for other recalls.

I found 7 on my mom's 2001 X5, they don't build 'em like they used to.

Well, I called my local Porsche place (Brumos) and they told me that there was no recalls for that model of porsche. I said I have all the info right here, and he says well my info is coming straight from Porsche.

So I called PCNA and gave them my info. The guy tells me there WAS a recall for the hose/rail, but that it was taken care of on my car. He went on to say that I should take the part to Brumos, tell them that the recall was taken care of, and that the part is bad - they might still replace it for me.

I guess I'll have to try that!

I don't believe there is a time frame for the replacement of that recalled hose. I had mine replaced on my '87 last spring with no hassle. The dealership looked up the info by VIN and it showed my car needed to be done---Voila! No problemo.

According to PET, it's 944 110 413 02.

On my Fuel line, the only thing I can see for sure is 944 110 413 xx it's impossible to make out the last two numbers.

The illustration number in PET is 107-20.

Local place (Brumos) just quoted me $60
